DENVER, Colo. (June 22, 2012) – With several successful M1 PowerSports karting challenges in the books and an unbelievable outcry of support from both fans and racers alike, M1 PowerSports is thrilled to announce the Test Fest Kart Challenge, one of the headlining events of the June 26-27 AMA Pro Test Fest at NOLA Motorsports Park. Next Tuesday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m., select fans will have the chance to team up with, and battle against, some of the biggest names in motorcycle racing. The team-based race format will also feature a local mover-and-shaker from the media community and a pint-sized celebrity from the Roots of Music, the critically-acclaimed music education program for middle-school students in New Orleans that was recently tapped to play in the 2013 Rose Bowl parade. “You never really know someone until you race them,” said Cameron Gray, CEO of M1 PowerSports. “And this will give us all a great opportunity to truly get to know one another, the fans, the AMA Pro riders, the local media members and the extremely talented youngsters that make up the Roots of Music. Some of the most fun we’ve ever had has been on the kart track and I can’t wait to get this tradition started up in New Orleans.” In order to be eligible to participate in the Test Fest Kart Challenge, fans just need to show up to the AMA Pro Test Fest Celebration Party, hosted by local motorcycle dealer The Transportation Revolution at their trackside Motorbike Speed Shop. The Test Fest Celebration Party will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, closing out the first day of on-track practice by the AMA Pro Road Racing riders and teams. During the festivities, 14 lucky fans will be selected at random from those that are in attendance. The race will be conducted in four five-lap heats, and each driver must complete one of the heat races. Rather than competing for overall finishing position, each driver’s fastest lap time will be recorded and added to their teammates’ fastest lap times. The team with the lowest cumulative lap time will win the event. The top three teams will receive trophies and the fan and Roots of Music member on the winning team will receive two (2) three-day ticket packages to the 2012 Triumph Big Kahuna New Orleans and a guaranteed slot in the next M1 PowerSports-promoted Kart Challenge held at NOLA Motorsports Park. Originally spawned from Daniels Corporation under the name FAST, the fledgling company was heavily involved in television production for car and motorcycle racing. With the birth of Speedvision, FAST morphed into Race Promotion Management (RPM) and is now operating as M1 PowerSports with many of the same staff still in place.
