One victory and two more podium finishes for the BMW S 1000 RR at the CIV season finale.

Successful last round of the 2016 Italian Superbike Championship: Lorenzo Lanzi celebrates a win, his fellow BMW Motorrad Motorsport racers Denni Schiavoni and Matteo Ferrari also step onto the podium.

Munich (DE), 11th October 2016. One race event was scheduled for the BMW S 1000 RR racers and the experts from BMW Motorrad Motorsport last weekend: the 2016 season finale of the Italian Superbike Championship (CIV). The last two races of the year were held at Mugello (IT) in the hills of Tuscany. It turned out to be a successful weekend, with a victory and two more podium finishes for the BMW S 1000 RR.

The first of the two encounters was held on Saturday on a wet track. The BMW racers mastered the tricky conditions in a perfect manner, with no less then three RRs crossing the line in the top four positions. Lorenzo Lanzi (IT / TMF) secured the win and set the fastest race lap. Matteo Ferrari (IT / DMR Racing Team) joined him on the podium in third position. Ferrari’s team-mate Denni Schiavoni (IT) rounded off the strong result in fourth place. Points also went to Alessio Corradi (IT / BMW Gomma Racing) in ninth and Alessandro Polita (IT / Tutapista) in 12th.

In the second race on Sunday, held in dry conditions, it was Schiavoni’s turn to step onto the podium. He came home in a strong second place. Lanzi was fifth, directly followed by Ferrari in sixth. Polita in tenth and Remo Castellarin (IT / Crazy Old Men) in 13th also scored points.

In the championship classification, Ferrari ended the season in third place, while Lanzi is fourth overall.

12 year old American finishes top 10 in Italian Championship

Damian Jigalov – the 12 year old from East Dundee, Illinois – has finished the Italian CIV Premoto3 250 Championship series in the top ten.

The final two races took place at Mugello last weekend. In the first race on Saturday, heavy rain showers disrupted the racing and many riders crashed out. However, Damian was able to stay upright and took 9th place. Race two took place on Sunday and all riders were happy to see a return to dry conditions. Lower temperatures affected setup work done previously but Damian rode around this and although he battled with severe chatter – especially through Arabiatta 1 and 2 – he took a well earned 7th place.

Damian has been prepared for Premoto3 thanks to the racing he has done over the years in America with WERA. The same series that produced former American champions such as Ben Spies and Nicky Hayden.

Although Damian came as a young wild card ride mid-season his was able to secure a top 10 Championship standing with strong results.

Damian Jigalov will be racing full time with RMU MOTO in the CIV Premoto3 250 series in 2017.

Dave Rhinehart Wins the 2016 AHRMA – Thruxton Cup Championship

Dave Rhinehart continued his successful season at the 12th annual Barber Vintage Motorcycle Festival presented by Triumph Motorcycles October sixth through the ninth. Barber is the largest AHRMA race of the year with 70,000 people in attendence.

Rhinehart clinched the AHRMA – Thruxton Cup Championship with a personal record of nine first place finishes. He capped off his season by setting his personal lap record at Barber and completing the fastest Thruxton lap of the weekend.

“I’m so excited to win the Thruxton Cup. I’ve been racing my Thruxton for six years and it was great to have everything come together as perfectly as it did this season. I could not have done it without the tremendous support of my sponsors.” Rhinehart stated following the trophy ceremony.
