MotoSix Captures Four MRA Class Championships as Aaron Clark secures the MRA #1 Plate MotoSix riders Dave Gallant and Aaron Clark sealed up four class championships and Aaron Clark clinched the MRA’s coveted #1 plate for the 2007 season this past weekend with the MRA at Pueblo Motorsports Park in Pueblo Colorado. Under sunny skies Saturday afternoon, Dave Gallant simply needed to start the Heavyweight Endurance race to secure the class championship for 2007, but it was obvious from the start of the race that anything less than a race win was not going to suffice. Dave Gallant and a pair of Ducati 1098s shared the lead over the course of the race distance, but Dave made his move to take the lead on the last lap then followed that move by turning the fastest lap of the race. This sealed the victory in the race and overall 2007 Heavyweight Endurance class championship. “The conditions are clear and cool today and the bike and tires felt just about perfect. We are able to make a soft compound rear last for an unbelievably long time on these new Pirelli tires, and I needed every bit of their traction to keep up with those beautiful Ducati’s out here this weekend. We have come a long way this year with the bike development, and I can’t thank our 2007 season sponsors enough” commented Dave Gallant of MotoSix Motorsports. Sunday morning skies were clear, but storm clouds lingered across the mountain range warning all Colorado natives that it would rain at some point in the afternoon. Even with the threat of rain and cooler temperatures, both MotoSix riders put their Suzuki GSX-R1000s on the podium in Open Supersport with Aaron Clark taking the win and Dave Gallant taking third place. With this result, Aaron Clark secured the Open Supersport class championship aboard his 2007 Fay Myer’s sponsored GSXR 1000. Next up for Aaron Clark was Open Superbike; a race he would have to win to clinch the 2007 class championship. Not taking any chances, Clarkie pulled out all the stops and mounted the softest Pirelli tires available on his set of ultra-light Marchesini wheels. Even though Aaron led the first four laps, it was obvious he was having to work extra hard to run his normal pace. On lap six, the second place rider snuck by to take the lead and potentially the championship away. Just as the action was really heating up, everything came to an abrupt end due to a red flag and a rider down on the course. “These super soft tires need a different target temp and starting pressure and we were way too high. I was doing everything I could to hold the lead out there” commented Aaron Clark. With great anticipation from the fans and racers alike, the officials announced that since the riders were past the halfway point the race was over and the results would be posted as of the last completed lap. This handed the race win and Open Superbike class championship to very excited Aaron Clark. “Those guys were really riding great and we were all giving it everything we had. That last race was so close that I am not sure how it would have gone if we had to restart the race, although I am confident we could have turned much faster lap times with the proper tire pressures. I am really happy we were able to come out on top however and bring home another MRA class championship for Fay Myers and Pirelli tires” added Aaron Clark. Only needing to start the race to clinch the MRA’s premier class championship in Race of the Rockies, Aaron did just that then put his head down to began the bid for the lead. The racing action was once again stopped by a red flag caused by the impending thunder storms after just two laps. On the restart thirty minutes later, both Aaron and Dave got excellent starts with Clarkie leading into turn one and Dave well into the top ten. While Aaron battled up front, Dave worked his way through the field until engaging in a drafting battle with the 5th place rider. Since neither Dave nor the leading rider could escape the other, both began to catch the fourth place and it looked like soon it was going to be a three way battle for fourth place. Meanwhile, at the front of the pack Clarkie was exchanging positions as well in a three-way battle for the race win. At the checkered flag Aaron was just beat to the line to take home a strong second place with Dave charging home a close sixth finish. “That was a fantastic race to end a fantastic season! I am very proud to race with riders this good and be able to wear the #1 plate on my motorcycle for the 2008 season. I want to thank Fay Myers, Pirelli, SBS Brakes, and my wife Tedi for the great support they have given me this year. I am sad the season is over, and am already excited about coming back to racing in 2008!” commented Aaron Clark. Even with colder track temperatures and the threat of rain, Dave Gallant was determined to leave his mark on the Heavyweight Supersport class in his last race of the last race weekend in 2007 aboard is MotoSix Suzuki GSXR 750. In an anti-climatic fashion, Dave Gallant rocketed off the line to take the holeshot into turn one, then led every lap steadily pulling away from the field of perusing riders to win by a large margin. “I wish there were more race weekends left in this season because my Suzuki GSXR 750 is now perfect. Between the GP Suspension products and the Pirelli tires, riding this bike is now almost easy! I could not have done this without the support of Joe Page, Pirelli Tires, Josh at Tigershark Racing, Kris at Fastlane Performance, and Rob and Ryan at Lithium Motorsports. I also want to give a special thanks to Scott Morse of Morse Racing products for his unwaivering support over the years of both myself as well as most Colorado roadracers” said Dave Gallant, owner of MotoSix Motorsports. More, from a press release issued by AIM Yamaha: STEVEN NEATE ELEVATED TO 12TH AT DONINGTON Following a post race examination at Donington Park on Sunday, two competitors were excluded from the original results of the Maxxis British Supersport race. As these two riders were placed above of Steve Neate in the original results, this decision elevates Steven from 14th to 12th position with the added bonus of an extra two championship points.
