Wyman brothers set for homecoming race at New Jersey Motorsports Park

MILLVILLE, N.J. (Apr. 28) — The Millennium Technologies sponsored Kyle Wyman Racing team heads to New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend for the third round of the 2016 MotoAmerica Superbike championship after a successful weekend at Road Atlanta. NJMP is considered the home race for the New York-based KWR team.

Eldest brother Kyle has had success at the 2.25-mile NJMP Thunderbolt course, earning a victory in 2014 as well as four podium finishes, including his Superstock 1000 2nd place finish at the end of 2015. Wyman is looking forward to his first Superbike run at a track he calls home.

“It feels great to be back on home turf,” Wyman said. “I have a lot of laps here at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and it’s the only track which I’ve actually ridden my Millennium Technologies R1 at before. We have some notes to go off of from last year so we will be even more prepared for this weekend.”

The weather forecasts rain throughout the weekend, including a 100% chance for Sunday’s two Superbike main events. For the 26-year-old Superbike rookie, any weather conditions are welcome at a circuit he knows well.

“Yeah, it looks like rain this weekend, but we will see what we end up with,” Wyman added. “The goal will be to see if we can use the wet track time on Friday to dial in the setup on the rain tires. We already have a good dry setting for this track. It looks like Saturday will be dry for qualifying, where it will be important to set a good grid position for both races. As for the rain, it looks like my guys will be burning through some Lucas Oil SlickMist to keep the bikes clean this weekend.”

Travis Wyman chasing after Superstock 600 points lead at NJMP

Younger brother Travis Wyman will contest his second round of the Superstock 600 championship this weekend at New Jersey with sights set on taking the overall class points lead.

Wyman earned his first victory of the season in race two at Road Atlanta after battling through the field. The 24-year-old veteran of the class currently sits in second place in series points, just 10 points out of the lead.

“It feels good to have another shot at a championship this year,” Travis said. “I’m looking forward to what this weekend has in store for the whole Millennium Technologies team.”

Last fall, Travis finished up his New Jersey weekend with a second place podium finish and a DNF.

“It’s definitely a bit different coming into New Jersey so early in the year,” Travis added. “I feel confident coming off of a win at Road Atlanta. I have a good group of people supporting me and we will do our best rain or shine.”
