AFTER A LONG SUMMER BREAK THE RIDERS DISCOUNT VESRAH SUZUKI TEAM IS BACK IN ACTION THIS WEEKEND AT NJMP. The Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki team returns to action this weekend September 7th 9th at the American Red Cross Devils Showdown presented by Team ProMotion at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville NJ. In the AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class both Cory West and Joey Pascarella are hunting strong finishes in order to move them higher up into the top 10 in the season point standings. Jake Lewis is currently tied for the lead in the 2012 AMA Pro SuperSport East championship and will be looking for every point available this weekend including the point for pole position, which he has not yet gotten this year, and the points for leading most laps which he has won 3 times so far this year. Breeann Poland Team Manager Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki “I’m excited that this long summer break is over and that the team gets to head out on the track. It was nice that the riders and crew got this break but now it is time for a strong finish to the 2012 season. All of the riders are ready to get back out there and Jake wants to contend for his championship.” Cory West Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki #57 “It’s been a long summer break and I’m really anxious to get back on the bike. New Jersey is one of my favorite tracks to ride and always allows for great racing. I can’t wait!” Joey Pascarella Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki #52 “Going into New Jersey I am feeling good. I love this track and have been riding some at home and feel like it is going to be a great weekend with the Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki team!” Jake Lewis Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki #85 “This month break has seemed like forever and I can’t wait to get back on my Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki GSX-R600! I’ve enjoyed my break and worked really hard to be prepared for the end of the season. The points are all tied up for the lead so I’m looking forward to having a good battle this weekend. I have the track record on a 125 at this track so I seem to go well on it. I’m looking forward to a great weekend and getting back on top of the box like my team and I deserve.” Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki would like to thank their sponsors for the 2012 season: Vesrah, Riders Discount, MCJ Motorsports, American Suzuki, Nielsen Enterprises Suzuki, Parts Unlimited, Penske Racing Shocks, Traxxion Dynamics Fork Components, Yoshimura, Catalyst Racing Composites, Shoei, Cortech, Sidi, Held, Motion Pro, Sudco Int., Bazzaz, Factory Pro, Maxima Racing Oils, Spiegler Brake Lines, Adjustable-levers, Vicci, Vortex, DID Chain, Zero Gravity, GPR Stabilizers, Trek Bicycles, Suzuka Tire Warmers, K&N Filters, Full Spectrum Batteries, Oakley (Jake), Roclun (Jake), Progressive Trail Design (Cory), Jon Block Group (Joey), 509 sunglasses (Cory and team), Andrew Swenson Designs and Drippinwet. More, from a press release issued by GEICO Suzuki: Championship leader Cardenas happy to be back on his GEICO Suzuki MILLVILLE, N.J. (Sept. 6) – It’s been more than a month since AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike rider Martin Cardenas has been aboard his front-running GEICO Suzuki, so this weekend’s American Red Cross Devils Showdown in the GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing Series at New Jersey Motorsports Park couldn’t come soon enough for the 29-year-old Colombian. “It feels pretty good to be back on track,” Cardenas said. “During the break, I rode once at my home in Medellin, but it’s not the same as here at the races. So I’m excited.” The GoPro Daytona SportBike class hasn’t raced since Laguna Seca in late July, and Cardenas, the class points leader, said he kept his edge by focusing on keeping his body at 100 percent. “It was a lot of the normal stuff,” Cardenas said. “I worked on my physical conditioning in the gym and on my bicycle. It’s been important to just be healthy and ready for the race.” Cardenas leads all riders with six wins on the season, holds a sizable 64-point lead on second-place Dane Westby and won on this 2.2 mile, 12 turn-circuit when he last rode a Daytona SportBike here in 2010. “I don’t think it gives me too much of an advantage,” Cardenas said. “A lot of the other guys have raced this track a lot and our competition has been very good lately. We’re going in there and hoping we can have a perfect weekend. We need to focus on starting it off right with a good effort in qualifying. “I would be nice to win the championship before the final round, but we can’t look that far ahead. You never know what’s going to happen. It’s a good goal to have, and everyone on the team is going to try their best to achieve it.” Practice at the American Red Cross Devils Showdown for the GoPro Daytona SportBikes gets under way at 1 p.m. EDT on Friday with the first qualifier coming at 4 p.m. Final qualifying will be at 8:50 a.m. on Saturday. Race 1 (23 laps) will start at 1 p.m. Saturday with Race 2 (23 laps) coming at 2:15 p.m. Sunday. SPEED TV will cover Saturday’s racing starting at 9 p.m. EDT and Sunday’s starting at 11 p.m. More, from a press release issued by Kuryakyn Racing For A Wish Team: SIGNORELLI AND KURYAKYN XR1200 THUNDER INTO JERSEY Kuryakyn Racing for a Wish Team Seeks New Best Finish This Weekend at AMA Race at NJMP Last year Signorelli put in a great race at the last round of the AMA Pro Racing season in New Jersey by finishing with a career best pro finish in 8th. This year he enters the NJMP round having already finished in the top-five this year, but will be pushing to stand on the box for the first time. The team’s race results at the Indy GP did not reflect the speed that Signorelli demonstrated in Qualifying. This weekend at New Jersey their focus will be to put everything together come Sunday to put on a show for all of the fans. Their effort will be aided by welcoming back the convenience of having a spare bike. After blowing a motor at Barber in June, the team has been down to one bike, which constrained the team’s testing. Signorelli and all of the XR1200 racers can be seen in action on Saturday September 8th for qualifying and Sunday September 9th for the race. Signorelli will also be participating in autograph signing sessions and track walks with the fan throughout the weekend. Gerry Signorelli – “We’ve worked so hard to keep improving our speed throughout the year. We are getting better and better. The logistics of getting two working motors in the bikes again has been crazy given the travel schedule recently, but it was worth it! I’m thankful to have very supportive sponsors like Kuryakyn, Racing for a Wish, California Superbike School, Fast Bike Industries, Pikes Peak Harley-Davidson and Wild Fire Harley-Davidson behind us! Also the friends and family I have around the country allowing me to pull into their driveway, unload, and wrench on my bikes during a grueling travel schedule these past few weeks has been huge! Time to go racing!” The team invites all fans to make it to the next round for the New Jersey Motorsports Park on September 9th. Racing for a Wish is a motorcycle road racing program that donates to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado as it supports Gerry Signorelli’s development towards becoming an internationally competitive racer. The team is currently racing in the full AMA XR1200 Pro Series. More, from a press release issued by Celtic Racing/Orient Express: Celtic Racing’s Rispoli And Alexander Excited For Home Race At New Jersey For Celtic Racing, the upcoming race weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park is as close as the team gets to a home event. Adding to the excitement and enthusiasm, both Rispoli and Alexander expect tremendous local support from friends and family who will make the trip for the AMA Pro Road Racing weekend. James Rispoli is currently leading the AMA Supersport West Championship with 279 points – a massive 60 point lead over his closest rival. Rispoli has spent the month since the last race and win at Laguna Seca training harder than ever to prepare for New Jersey. Corey Alexander arrives at New Jersey with his priorities for the AMA Supersport East Championship title in plain view. Alexander showed his talents at Laguna Seca with a strong fifth place finish, and has used the summer break to train and ride as much as possible. The two races this weekend pay points towards Alexander’s East Championship, and with good results he can push ahead of several rivals. James Rispoli will ride his #1 Celtic Orient Express Suzuki GSX-R 600 with renewed determination and focus this weekend. Rispoli stated excitedly that “I’m here to win, and I’ve had nothing else on my mind since Laguna. My Celtic Orient Express crew has been working hard to get the bike ready, and I’ve pushed my training to a new level. We are ready to finish the year strong, nothing else matters. Many thanks to all the fans who have been behind me all season, and especially to my personal sponsors: AGV Helmets, Dainese Leathers, Monster Energy, and Techmounts for all their support!” The #5 National Guard Fairhills Group Suzuki GSX-R 600 that Corey Alexander will ride has been carefully prepared ahead of this weekend’s races at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and Alexander himself has worked hard to be physically and mentally ready. Alexander stated “I’m really excited for my “home round” here at NJMP. I’ve always done well here, and hope to improve further on past results this weekend in front of my family and friends.” Corey would like to thank all his personal sponsors for their support, including Arai Helmets, Fairhills Group, Hudson Valley Motorcycles, Spidi Leathers, and XPD Boots.
