The Hannspree Ten Kate Honda World Supersport team returns to action this weekend (10-12 May) with French pairing Fabien Foret and Florian Marino campaigning their CBR600RRs in round five of the 2011 championship at Misano in Italy. The series, which traditionally supports the World Superbike championship, missed the recent trip across the Atlantic to Miller Motorsports Park in the USA, meaning it’s been more than a month since the last World Supersport round at Monza, where Foret took his second consecutive podium finish. However, both Foret and Marino tested at the team’s home circuit of Assen in the Netherlands last week, taking the opportunity to blow out some cobwebs and test some new settings after an extended time off the bike. In spite of less than perfect conditions, the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda riders were grateful for the chance to re-acquaint themselves with their CBR600RR machines and are looking forward to r acing again at the 4.226km Misano circuit this weekend. Fabien Foret: We have been on the podium in the past two races so my target is that again in Misano, but to be on the best place on the podium. My fitness is now much better and my injuries are almost gone. I am looking forward to riding my bike in better shape and being sharper, so I think we will be able to go for the win. There will be one less main rival competing at this race, which is bad for him, but obviously it makes things easier to get. We will see how the weather is, but in any case I will be doing my best and trying to win. This season has been tough and I hope all our efforts can be rewarded with a win. Florian Marino: Misano is OK for me, I rode there one time last year in the Superstock class. It was OK and for sure I want to improve this year in the races. I hope to get into position to be with the leaders of the race. I am happy with the way things are going. I have missed some experience when it has come to the races and two or three things about the settings on the bike, but now I am concentrating only what happens on raceday at Misano. Ronald ten Kate team-manager: It seems like ages since we were on track with the Supersport guys, but luckily we had a great day testing at Assen last week. We found quite some improvements to use on the bike in Misano, where we are all looking forward to being competitive again, and capitalizing on Fabien’s recent good form.
