Scott Russell to race SuperMoto at Moto X World Championships aboard a Graves Motorsports Yamaha Monster Energy YZ450F Cypress California Yamaha Motor Corporation is proud to announce that 5-time Daytona 200 winner Scott Russell will be competing in the SuperMoto race at the inaugural ESPN Moto X World Championships on April 12-13th at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA. Competing on a fully race prepped Graves Motorsports Yamaha Monster Energy backed YZ450F, Russell will have the same equipment as his teammates for the event, AMA Supermoto Champion Mark Burkhart and AMA SuperMoto Lites Champion Brandon Currie. As a fully integrated member of the team Russell will also don the exact same Alpinestars gear (leathers and gloves) and Monster Energy helmet as his teammates. Russell is excited about the opportunity, “I started racing again this year with the help of Jamie James Yamaha Champion’s Riding School, but it’s been a long time since I raced SuperMoto, so I don’t know exactly what to expect come race day. I do know that I’ll have a really good bike under me and I would like to thank Yamaha and Graves Motorsports for the opportunity.” “We’re very excited to see a former Road Racing Champion of Scott Russell’s caliber trying out a few SuperMoto races as a member of the Graves Motorsports team”, said team owner Chuck Graves. The current plan has Russell competing in both of the ESPN rounds (April 12-13th and July 31st-August 3rd) as a member of the Graves Motorsports Yamaha Monster Energy Team.
