There’s Still Time To Get A 2007 Tax Deduction By Making A Donation To The Roadracing World Action Fund

The Roadracing World Action Fund nears the end of the year with a grand total of $573,587.45 in donations since the Airfence safety campaign began in 2001.

Recent tragedies fueled donations, with an outpouring of donations in memory of racing young gun Connor La France and in memory of Trackside Racers Supply’s second-generation tire-man Andrew “Skip” Kuykendall.

Donations in Connor LaFrance’s memory from LRRS members include those from: U.S. Marshals of LRRS Racing Community, $1200; Ilya Kriveshko, $1111.11; Eric Wood, $1000; Don Hutchinson, $500; Daniel Murphy, $250; Michael W. Dube, $250; Brian Jeffery, $100; Wade Bartlett, $100; Ed McFarland, $100; Matthew F. Guilbault, $100; John W. Butler, $100; Michael Curry, $100; Steve Scott, $100; Michael Green, $100; Michael Lemire, $50; Edward Vigluicci, $35. John Owens donated $275, the proceeds from sales of portraits taken of LRRS riders in October.

Eric Wood wrote: “This section of Airfence is donated in the memory of Connor LaFrance, a class-act 14-year-old with a great amount of talent and a wonderful, supportive family. I hope that his piece of Airfence can perhaps someday save another family the heartache of losing a child to a piece of unprotected wall.”

Donations received in memory of Andrew “Skip” Kuykendall include those from: Pirelli North America Motorcycle Division, $500; The Delk Family, $500; Team Moto Uno Racing (Mike Belisle, Jason Belisle, Nicky Moore, Craig Hagedorn), $500; Charlie and Cathy van Valkenburgh and the Pit Bull Family, $200; Christian V. Smith, $157; Ryan Meade, $100, ASRA (Office) $100; Griff Allen/CMG $100; Kevin Drum/Drummer Racing, $50; Jeff and Sandy Johnston, $50.

Midwest Region NESBA members in support of bringing soft air barriers to their home track of Blackhawk Farms Raceway raised $2276 for the Action Fund at a Chili Cook-Off held Labor Day weekend at the track. NESBA President Bob Blanford pledged to match the amount raised at the Cook-Off, and many individual NESBA members and racers have sent in donations as well, specifically for soft barrier deployment at Blackhawk Farms, including: Bradley & Sandra Lewitzke, $300; John Fuisz, $250; Marshal Skloss, $200; Anonymous, $150; Pascal Young, $111; Steve Daniels, $100; Steve Zielenski, Hernan Martinez $65; $100; Ben Musson, $50; Thomas M. Kaley Jr., $50; Judy Herlich, $30; Todd Gerbsch, $25; Samuel Kraft, $25; Daniel Rivito, $25; Kelly Norton, $25; Matt Heyer, $25; Jason D. Gray, $25; Chris Sassano, $25; Kirk Erlinger, $25, Dan Iliescu, $25; and Ryan Manotti, $25.

For the second year in a row, Fastrack held a fundraiser at California Speedway offering two-up rides given by Team Roadracingworld.com’s Chris Ulrich, raising $3750 each for the Action Fund and the Red Flag Fund, a non-profit organization which benefits injured racers. RC51.org/Rogue held a fund raiser that brought in $514.50 for the Action Fund. And the hand-painted Nicky Hayden Banner displayed at Laguna Seca in July and auctioned on eBay fetched $351 each for the Action Fund and the Red Flag Fund.

Ongoing donations from businesses that have pledged continuing support through product sales include Kurveygirl, with a recent donation of $650 bringing their overall total to $1550. Richard Thompson, who pledged 20% of tire changer sales on WERA BBS to the Action Fund, sent in $70; Thompson’s all-time total is $3749. T2 Tirewarmers regularly donates a portion of sales to the Action Fund, the latest donation of $430 bringing the grand total to $1300 in less than one year.

Recent pledges from the WERA BBS community came to $353. Darrin Talbott, who often spurs other WERA BBS members to contribute to the Action Fund, and who has been named Roadracing World Action Fund’s Most Frequent Contributor, sent in his 18th donation, this time for $25, for a grand total of $1680.
