CLASSIC BIKES TO COMPETE FOR TOP HONORS AT 7TH ANNUAL MOTORCYCLE HALL OF FAME MUSEUM CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE Celebrated Author and Journalist Peter Egan Will Serve as Guest Judge One of the highlights of the upcoming Hall of Fame Weekend, scheduled for Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11, at the AMA’s Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington, Ohio, is the Museum’s 7th Annual Concours d’Elegance. This special event is one of the nation’s largest by-invitation-only shows of classic and collectible motorcycles, many of them priceless or rarely seen works of motorcycle art. Over 100 original and restored machines will compete for the coveted Jim Davis Best-in-Show trophy, as well as for top honors in a number of additional classes. In 2007, Peter Calles and his 1971 MV Agusta 750 Sport took home the Best-in-Show honors. This year participants will also be eligible for two special awards. Peter Egan, the popular author and columnist for Road & Track and Cycle World magazines, and Larry Little, publisher of Cycle World, are serving as guest judges. They will bring their passion for motorcycle heritage and eye for historic detail, and will each award an exclusive trophy to the one machine that most reflects their personal vision of a special bike. Additionally, the 7th Annual Concours d’Elegance will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Penton motorcycle with a special Penton retrospective display featuring significant machines. The Concours d’Elegance will take place at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 11. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. A donation equal to the regular Museum admission fee is requested to enter the grounds, and includes admission to the Museum. The Concours is part of a full weekend of motorcycling events in Central Ohio, including the 2007 Motorcycle Hall of Fame induction ceremony. For more information, contact the Museum at (614) 856-2222 or [email protected].
