A warm up ride down to Big Sur, three laps around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, VIP parking, lunch with Wayne Rainey, bid on exclusive MotoGP memorabilia and maybe even score two tickets to the Yamaha party at the Monterey Aquarium. That’s a Laguna Seca trip you’ll be able to tell your grandkids about! Tickets are still available for the unique and exclusive behind-the-scenes peak at the MotoGP World Championship being made available at the 2008 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The organizers of the event and Dorna have made this possible to help raise money for the work of Riders for Health in Africa. This treat will take place on Thursday, July 17, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, in Monterey, California. Tickets are now on sale for $500. This special ticket includes: A half-day motorcycle tour down Hwy 1 into Big Sur and the back roads of Monterey County. Catered lunch in the Turn 4 Paddock Suite with this year’s special guest of honor, 3-time World Champion Wayne Rainey. An exclusive behind-the-scenes MotoGP paddock and pit lane tour. VIP paved 3-day motorcycle parking or 3-day on-site auto parking. Three motorcycle parade laps of the circuit (or a van ride for those not on motorcycles). Meet-and-greet with MotoGP riders past and present, including MotoGP legends Wayne Rainey and Randy Mamola and other motorcycle celebrities. A live auction of exclusive MotoGP team and rider items. Also this year, two tickets to the exclusive Yamaha party at the Monterey Aquarium will be auctioned off. Even those who don’t ride bikes can join in, as they will take part in a shuttle tour down Hwy 1 into Big Sur and an on-track tour of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Riders for Health is the official charity of the MotoGP World Championship and all proceeds will go to supporting their award-winning African programs, which train health workers to ride and maintain motorcycles so that they can reach even the most remote villages regularly. Thanks to their supporters in MotoGP, and the wider motorcycling community, Riders is helping nearly 11 million people across Africa to have the basic health care we take for granted, giving them the chance to fight disease and look forward to a healthier future. Riders for Health co-founder Randy Mamola on the work of Riders for Health: “The first Riders for Health Day (2007) was fantastic and everyone had a great time. I am sure that this year we can raise even more money to support this really important work. You can spend all the money in the world for vaccines, condoms and mosquito nets, but unless you can actually get them to the people who need them, they’re useless. That’s where motorcycles come in. It’s the same tool that helped me get to where I am today that’s helping save people’s lives.” To purchase a ticket for Behind the Scenes of MotoGP, benefiting Riders for Health, call the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca ticket office at 1-800-327-SECA. The ticket does not include admission to the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. Those tickets may be purchased at the above number, or online at www.laguna-seca.com.
