We felt pretty good yesterday, we came off the truck and made a few tweaks and had a really comfortable setting right out of the gate so it was going to be difficult to imrove today. We made a few small improvements today and then we did some general testing stuff, some stuff that’s been building up for a little while that we haven’t wanted to work in on a race weekend. We went through that, got a direction on a couple of things and then did some stuff for Dunlop in the afternoon. Overall I’m definitely happy with how the test went. Everything went really smooth and I’m looking forward to the rest of the year.” JOSH WATERS (Rockstar Makita Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000) Thursday Morning Session, 1:26.021 Thursday Afternoon Session, 1:26.630 · “I slept good last night. I’m still learning the track but it sure feels a lot better. I’m not miles off the pace. The bike is obviously good. I’m still messing up a little in the rollercoaster, the museum turn. I’m losing quite a bit of time there. I just found out that my fast time was the same as the fastest lap of the race last year, but I’d love to do a ‘5 [1:25 laptime] before I leave here. I still don’t think I’m taking full advantage of the tire.” · “I’m heading back Monday at midnight. I wish I could have flown over earlier but I raced last weekend, and then had an 18 hour flight. We got into LAX at 7 a.m. but didn’t get here until 10:30 at night. Hopefully I’ve done good enough to come back.” JOSH HAYES (No. 4 Team Graves Yamaha R1) Morning Session, 1:25.665 Afternoon Session, 1:26.290 · “Today we’re working on some settings and getting comfortable on the bike. This was a much needed test for us. We have two base settings and we’re working on both and trying to find some common ground. One race weekend, we typically pick one and work on it, then try the other.” · “I’m a little tired. I’ve been on the road since Infineon. We haven’t been home in quite awhile, four and a half weeks. Melissa [Paris] is having surgery today, so I’m going to fly to Colorado tomorrow to take care of her for a few days before we get to go home and sleep in our own bed.” · “I might do some American Supercamp stuff in the next few weeks but the main goal is Melissa’s recovery so that she can be healthy and back by Mid-Ohio.” JAKE ZEMKE (No. 54 National Guard Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000) Morning Session, 1:26.223 Afternoon Session, 1:26.305 · “It’s been real productive for us. With this suspension on here, I never tried it pre-season, and then when we went to Sonoma we only had like that half of day or whatever and the track was still a little bit dodgy so we didn’t really get much done. It’s a little bit difficult for us on a race weekend to get a lot of work done on the bikes and have a chance to really look at things and play with things to get them . It’s kinda like, ‘put your head down and go’ once the race weekend comes. It’s been good, we’ve gotten to try out a lot of different settings that we’ve wanted to try on a race weekend but haven’t had the time to do it. Overall the test has been real good for us. Definitely got a lot of useful information out of it so it’s been real positive for us.”
