Jeremy Toye broke Jeffrey Tigert’s undefeated streak in Willow Springs Motorcycle Club Formula 1 competition this year, leading from start to finish to win the 20-lap Toyota Gold Cup main event this weekend. Toye, who came up just 0.067 seconds short of Tigert in April, sealed the deal in convincing fashion this time, heading Tigert by 11.182 seconds at the line and taking home $3000 for the win. Following Toye’s Dunlop-shod, Lee’s Cycle-prepared Honda CBR1000RR and Tigert’s American Honda-sponsored, Dunlop-shod CBR1000RR across the line was reigning WSMC overall champion Karl Lowry. Lowry and his Graves Motorsports-backed, Dunlop-shod Yamaha YZF-R1 ran second at the beginning of the race, reclaimed the second spot from Tigert on Lap Seven and held it until the last lap, when Tigert snatched the runner-up spot by less than three-tenths of a second at the line. Chris Duran, Mitchell Wissner and Shawn Higbee rounded out the top six. Tigert, who had won all four Formula 1 races this season, took the wins in Open Superbike and Open Modified Production. Lowry took the Open Superstock win on his YZF-R1, as well as the 650 Superbike and 600 Superstock wins aboard his Graves-prepped Yamaha YZF-R6. Red Bull Rookies Cup competitor Benny Solis Jr. used his time back in the States to race at Willow on a Honda RS250, taking the win in the Roadracingworld.com 250cc Grand Prix and finishing second in Formula Two.
