Jeremy Toye took the Roadracingworld.com project Honda CBR1000RR to the win in the 20-lap Toyota Cup Unlimited Formula One race with the Willow Springs Motorcycle Club (WSMC) this weekend. Toye, who has developed the CBR1000RR in AMA and WERA races in addition to racing it with WSMC, threw down consistent laps in changing conditions to lead every lap en route to collecting the $3000 check for first place. Toye’s best lap aboard the Dunlop-shod Honda was a 1:22.117, but his first 13 laps all were in the 1:22 range, and he never slowed beyond the 1:23 range as the infamous Willow winds kicked up during the event. Karl Lowry took his Dunlop-shod, Graves Motorsports-developed Yamah YZF-R1 to second, 5.589 seconds behind Toye, and Brant Wiwi rode his Pirelli-shod, West Coast GP Cycles-tuned Yamaha YZF-R1 to third. Michael Beck finished fourth on his Graves Motorsports-backed Yamaha YZF-R6, 10 seconds clear of last month’s winner Jeffrey Tigert, who was four seconds clear of Jeff Stern. Lowry won Open Superbike and Open Superstock, while Wiwi finished second in both classes. Mitchell Wissner took the win in Open Modified Production on his Suzuki GSX-R1000.
