Jeremy Toye took his Roadracingworld.com, Pirelli-shod Kawasaki ZX-10R to a dominant win in the Formula One race during the Pirelli/WERA West Sportsman Series Presented by Lucas Oil weekend at Willow Springs International Raceway.

Racing at WERA’s first event at the storied 2.5-mile track in years, Toye eased away to a 7.303-second win over AFM and WERA West known fast guy Corey Sarros, who was aboard his Pirelli-shod, KFG Suspension-backed Suzuki GSX-R1000.

In very hot but otherwise pleasant (read, without gusting winds) conditions on Sunday in the Southern California high desert, Toye turned a fastest lap of 1.22.951 en route to the win in the six-lap event. Sarros was chased by Chris Duran, a veteran of the big track who was only 0.258-second behind Sarros at the finish, riding a Dunlop-shod Yamaha YZF-R1.

Scott Tillery, Karl Lowry, Dean Mizdal, Rick Johns, Eric Nolan, Jaime Mantel and Mark JouBran rounded out the top 10.

Toye and Sarros squared off again a few races later when the A Superbike class was flagged off. This time, Sarros led the first lap, but Toye squeezed past on the second lap and was off to another win, this one decisive but less dominant.

Toye crossed the line 3.175 seconds ahead of Sarros, but in the process ran even faster, clipping off a 1.22.476 en route to the win in temperatures over 100 degrees F. It was necessary, because Sarros dropped his lap times considerably from the Formula One race, running a best of 1.22.671. Duran again was third, but this time was more than four seconds behind Sarros at the stripe.

Bryce Prince was the big winner in the middleweight classes, taking the wins in the C Superbike and B Superbike races and finishing second behind Chris Duran in C Superstock aboard his Yamaha YZF-R6.
