From a press release issued by Infineon Raceway: SONOMA, Calif. “” The motorcycle community came together at Infineon Raceway on Monday, March 31, as more than $45,000 was raised for both Speedway Children’s Charities and the AFM Air Fence Fund. 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days hosted an on-track event that attracted a record 165 riders, who were treated to a full day of traversing the twists and turns of the world famous road course. The day also included an old-fashioned spaghetti dinner, raffle-auction and a drawing for a brand-new Suzuki GSX-R750. In all, the fund-raiser generated $45,200. Proceeds will go to needy youth groups in Sonoma County through Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of Infineon Raceway, as well as the AFM Air Fence Fund. Jere Starks, vice president of facilities at Infineon Raceway, runs the 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days program, and since its inception in 2003, the organization has distributed more than $245,000 to many worthy causes, including $135,000 to rider Vincent Haskovec, who was injured during an AMA weekend at Infineon Raceway in 2005. Starks created the 3J’s concept with long-time friend Jim Randolph. The drawing for the Suzuki GSX-R750 generated nearly $8,000 while the raffle-auction combined for another $2,000. It all added up to a great event under sunny skies and unusually warm temperatures. “The concept of combining a fun day on the track with a charitable element is a great thing,” said Tom McCloskey from Gardnerville, Nev., who attended the event with his brother, Doug, and five friends. “It was just a fantastic event; it’s the third 3J’s event I’ve been to and I’ll be back again. I’m glad I can be part of this.” The 3J’s Motorcycle Track Days marked the first event of a four-day bonanza this week featuring a two-day Yamaha-sponsored AMA Superbike Series Test Session (April 1-2) and a Supersport Comparison Test hosted by Cycle News and MotorcycleUSA.com (April 3). All events are FREE to the public. The AMA riders return to Infineon Raceway, May 16-18, for the Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown, presented by Supercuts.
