Performance Riding Experience (P.R.E.) Announces Fundraising Effort to Purchase Soft Barriers for Virginia International Raceway
New motorcycle-trackday organization Performance Riding Experience formally announced their intention to mount a fundraising campaign to purchase additional Airfence Bike soft barriers for VIR at their events held at the track on May 29 and May 30.
The principals of P.R.E have been actively involved in fundraising for this worthy cause for the last several years. Those efforts have resulted in the placement of 30 sections of Airfence at Road Atlanta, and 9 sections of Airfence deployed to VIR, and the monies raised to date have exceeded $60,000. P.R.E hopes to raise enough money from their efforts in 2014 to provide VIR with an additional 11 sections of Airfence, bringing the total deployment at VIR to 20. These soft barriers will be stored on site at VIR and be available for use by all motorcycle trackday and race organizations who utilize the track.
P.R.E co-owner Mike Ruhe said, “These fundraisers started with the loss of some good friends and a need to do something to honor their memory. Airfence saves lives and reduces serious injury, plain and simple. The Roadracing World Action Fund provides us a vehicle to give back to the community we operate in, and not just to our customers. This barrier will be made available to any motorcycle organization that wishes to use it.”
“VIR is honored to have customers like Performance Riding Experience and their riders who are proactive in the road racing community. We applaud the personal commitment both Mike and John have put into P.R.E. to build such a quality track program” says Kerrigan Smith, Direction of Track Operations at VIR.
P.R.E will be holding a fundraiser at VIR South Course on the evening of June 28th beginning at 6:30 pm. The event coincides with their motorcycle track days being held at VIR on the 28th & 29th, and will consist of a catered dinner followed by a live auction where many sponsor-donated items will be sold to the highest bidder. Cost for dinner is $20 per person, and P.R.E. will also have commemorative t-shirts for sale for $20 each.
One hundred percent of all monies raised will be donated to the Roadracing World Action Fund and designated for the purchase of soft barriers for use at VIR.
P.R.E. president and co-owner John Allen said, “We are fortunate that we have the ability to give back to this sport, and providing additional Airfence soft barriers to VIR will help make this wonderful facility even safer for motorcycles.”
P.R.E. would like to thank all of the sponsors who are supporting this worthwhile effort and all of the individuals who have contributed their time and money to make this event possible.
