Albuquerque, New Mexico April 28 , 2008 — Attention all female motorcycle road racers! A new female only championship road racing series has been created by the Motorcycle Roadracing Association (MRA) of Colorado and Sandia Motorcycle Roadracing Inc (SMRI) of New Mexico. The Women of the West Championship Race Series will consist of four race events that coincide with each club’s female only race classes. The rules Open to all novice and expert female racers with a valid 2008 road racing license. Open GP class structure, virtually no restrictions on displacement, modifications or bike origin. Tech requirements All participant bikes will be required to meet the safety rules and standards of the host organization. Both the MRA and SMRI have recognized the growing female race population within each organization and have created a race class to showcase this talent. This championship series was developed to bring more attention to these truly talented women. Shana Runck, the SMRI 2006 Formula Femme Champion and one of the key members behind the SMRI class creation is quoted as saying “I think the creation of this WoW series is a positive step to help introduce women to this exciting sport. Many talented women riders attend trackdays all over the US. The next logical progression in their skill and confidence development is to compete at the club level.” Race Dates: · May 17/18 at SMRI Albuquerque, NM · June 28/29 at MRA Pueblo, CO · August 9/10 at MRA Pueblo, CO · October 18/19 at SMRI Albuquerque, NM Contacts: For Advertising Opportunities: David Dikitolia, SMRI Marketing Director at [email protected] Or Donna Bowden, MRA Rider Representative at [email protected] For Any Other Questions: Glenn Conser, MRA President at [email protected] Or Troy Runck, SMRI New Rider Director at [email protected]
