The AFM, American Federation of Motorcyclists, a non-profit, California-based road-racing organization with an illustrious fifty-five year history, is pleased to announce the creation of its newest racing class, Formula AFemme. Formula AFemme is an all female racing class that is open to all AFM-licensed females with no displacement restriction. In 2009, Formula AFemme will be raced at Round 2 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, April 24th – 25th, and at Round 3, also at Infineon, May 23rd – 24th. Should the two debut races of Formula AFemme prove to be a success, the class will likely be continued for the remainder of the season, so please come out and show your support by racing or cheering on our racers. The presence of women in sport motorcycling is on the rise, and the numbers of female racers entering the AFM have been increasing steadily in recent years. We believe the addition of this exciting all female racing class will encourage new female racers to try racing, generate positive publicity of Formula AFemme, and recognize the achievements of women who race motorcycles.
