Every morning at 6:15 a.m. sharp you would hear the F-4 Phantoms and F-14 Tomcats race towards the sky, continuing all day and I mean all day! So, how loud can this place really be with cars or motorcycles running all day……and I mean all day? I can only imagine this area of agricultural background has once again been urbanized by sandal-wearing yuppies with nothing better to do than gripe. But I’m sure you can still ride around your car with a rifle in the front seat, loaded or not, in Litchfield! Steven DeLaMora Fontana, California More reader reaction: FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: In response to this posting, I & my family live here in Phoenix, Arizona and have lived also in Indiana & Florida and we have never seen anything like this. When we first heard about this track being built we went out to look at it and kept an eye on its progress over the months to be able to attend any racing that would be happening once it opened. We even read articles on its opening. But apparently the “neighbors” didn’t pay attention or didn’t want to and the track got built and events started happening. Then all of a sudden it’s too noisy, even for being built right under the south end of the Air Force base’s runways. According to the neighbors the planes don’t fly all day and they moved into their homes “knowing” that this noise would be happening throughout the day. The neighbors to AMP have not been the only ones complaining. Apparently the nearby housing developers that have been wanting to build MORE (as if there aren’t enough houses in this valley already) houses egged on the neighbors and got the county to revoke AMP’s permit. The city of Litchfield & the City of Goodyear have been uncooperative and down right hostile with AMP and Mr. Maloney in regards to his cooperation to make changes to get HIS track re-permitted for just his personal use & the use of the track by his racing club. We as business owners, we currently live on the west side of Phoenix, have decided not to do business with Litchfield or the City of Goodyear at any time now or in the future. If I were Mr. Maloney I’d sell the property take my losses and go somewhere else. Screw them! And yes, Mr. DeLaMora, a person can still carry a six shooter on his hip in this state (at least for now). And yes, the land developers have encroached on the area so much so that there was some major concern that the Air Force base would be closed down because of the houses being built right under the flight path of the runways. In regards to your comment on the planes that fly out of Luke Air Force Base–they would be Air Force planes(F-15s & F-16s) and not an F-14 (a Navy plane).
