Richie Morris Racing Buell (Shawn Higbee/Dan Bilansky), Buell XB12R, GST, 50.988 seconds More, from a press release issued by Grand American Road Racing: Vallely Racing Fastest in Morning Practice for Iowa Speedway 500K NEWTON, Iowa (July 14, 2007) The No. 32 Vallely Racing entry of Mike Himmelsbach and Chris Pyles posted the fastest time during the morning warm-up for today’s Iowa Speedway 500K scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Himmelsbach set the fast time with five minutes remaining in the session on his Suzuki SV1000 with a lap time of 48.369 seconds (96.756 mph), less than one tenth of a second ahead of the current championship points leading No. 6 Aprilia USA 2 entry of Troy Green, Ty Howard and Henry Wiles at a 48.423 second lap time (96.648 mph). The top six machines all posted fastest lap times less than one second apart. The No. 8 Richie Morris Racing Buell XB12 of Shawn Higbee and Dan Bilansky continued to be the fastest team in the BMW GST class with a time of 50.988 seconds (91.786 mph). The No. 70 James Gang Racing Buell XB12 of Paul James and Jeff Johnson turned a lap time of 52.105 seconds (89.819 mph). The No. 9 Pair-A-Nines Kawasaki EX650 of Jimmy Filice and Jay Springsteen were pushed to second fastest in the ST class in the middle of the session by the No. 87 SpeedWerks.com Suzuki SV650 of Brian Kcraget and Scott Ryan, but Filice turned a 50.685 second lap time (92.335 mph) late in the session to move just ahead of the lap time of 50.733 seconds set by the No. 87 machine. The Iowa Speedway 500K will start this evening at 6:30 p.m., and is scheduled for 500 kilometers with a 3-hour time limit. MOTO-ST is organized and sanctioned by Professional Motorsports Productions (PMP) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the Grand American Road Racing Association, based in Daytona Beach, Fla., provides the series with administrative and commercial support. The RightsforBikers.com second entry in the SST class, also on a Suzuki SV1000, ran a fastest time of 49.280 seconds. In the GST class on the #89 Paul Smart Ducati 1000DS, riders Chris Boy and John Linder rode their fastest time of 52.652, and on the #16 Suzuki SV650 in the ST class riders Justin Filice and Bob Fisher rode their fastest time of a 51.269. “The track is tight and technical, really suits my riding style, and seems to level the playing field. This short course will make a great show for the fans — it should be a real barn-burner” says Mark Crozier. “The facility and the hospitality here has been first class. It’s amazing to have so many motorsport enthusiasts who probably haven’t seen a motorcycle race in their lives come out and support our sport.” This will be the first time motorcycles will make an appearance at Iowa Speedway. Running on the small 1.3-mile road course will make for exciting, close and competitive racing at the new $70 million facility. “Stan Clement and the folks at Iowa Speedway have really made a commitment to promoting the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series and we are proud to be a part of what we think will create some new motorcycle race fans here in Iowa ” says Team Owner CJ Czaia. “Our 4-bike entry demonstrates our commitment to this series and we are running well here.
