Daniel DeBry (Hon) More, from a press release issued by Kopecky Racing: On Sunday, December 18th San Diegan Kenny Kopecky ended the WSMC season the same way he started it 12 months ago with three race wins in BOTT Middleweight, BOTT Heavyweight and Formula Twins at Willow Springs. In winning all 12 races in each of these three classes, as well as winning 5 other races during the season (in 650 Superbike and 750 Superbike events), Kopecky set personal records for most wins in a season (41), personal best lap times, and four WSMC class lap records. The 46 year-old racer’s overall points total for the season is one of the highest, if not the highest, ever set in the 14 year history of WSMC racing. The Ducati 749R and 999R bikes prepared by Ducati Oceanside had no mechanical dnf’s the entire season. “I can’t say enough about how much fun we’ve had, how great the Ducati Superbike models are to ride and race on the track, and the fantastic level of support I’ve had from my family, everyone at Ducati Oceanside and all my sponsors. The Ducati North America contingency program is fantastic, and we’re totally stoked to have won all these races in this long season.” He has already stated he will not be defending the overall WSMC Championship title in 2006 due to family obligations. “Our goal this season was top 10 overall and a few more class titles, and we wanted to put in one more full season out here…next year we’ll be missing a few events for sure. We are looking forward to running selected events, as well as some Ducati contingency races and putting our bikes on top again in some individual races.” said Kenny after the December meet. Kopecky also ran the pair of Ducati in other classes occasionally, garnering top 3 finishes in 9 different WSMC race classes in 2005. He said “We had a ton of fun on the track with many top racers this season! The twins are great race bikes and eligible for so many classes. It was nice to see some good size fields in the twins club races this year at Willow, and we’re sure the race action for the 2006 class titles will be fun to watch develop”. The opening race day of the 2006 WSMC season is January 15, 2006. Kenny added, “We would like to add our thanks to the many racers, friends and fans who gave us encouragement and congratulations throughout the year! That means a lot to us, and we’re very thankful for the opportunities we’ve had. We wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season, and all the best in the New Year”
