Following the hard work by both rider and team the past two rounds, the Kneedraggers.com TripleCrown Industries team returned to Road America this weekend with the goal of maintaining AMA Supersport rider Stefano Mesa’s consistent top ten finishes. The effort paid off, after a good showing in the practice rounds and qualifying Stefano rode a hard and smart race for a second place finish. After working his way up to 3rd from his 7th place grid position the action was halted due to a red flag incident. Stefano commented, “I got an awesome start and I felt I could hang with the pack, I was settling in for the race and had a plan, then came the red flag. For the second start, I almost jumped it, everyone was very close. I was pushing hard and made a couple of mistakes but stayed close to the leaders. With a few laps to go I made a good pass in Canada Corner, my team did an awesome job and I cannot wait for the race on Sunday.” Crew chief Robert Ward – “Stefano ran a great race, kept the pace w/the leaders and I am looking forward to racing to the top of the box tomorrow.” Head mechanic Andy Deming was quite happy – “I am completely happy for Stefano, he has been working hard all year, this finish is excellent for his confidence and we are thrilled to be back on the box.” Team owner Dave Brite – “I am very pleased with Stefano, That outside pass had me on the edge of my seat! Stefano has shown a level dedication that makes me proud to have him as part of our team. I look forward to a successful season with him. This is all possible only due to the solid effort by the whole team and the support from our sponsors: Kneedraggers.com “¢Galfer “¢Bell “¢Regina “¢Yamaha “¢Graves “¢Factory Pro “¢Motion Pro “¢Chronic Motorsports “¢Arsenal Leathers “¢Full Spectrum “¢Attack Performance “¢BlackheartMX “¢Wilson`s Cycle “¢Addict by Bosi “¢Motoprimo “¢Dynojet “¢Motul” More, from a press release issued by Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki: VICTORY AT HOME FOR RIDERS DISCOUNT VESRAH SUZUKI Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki SuperSport competitor Jake Lewis scored a victory at the home track for the team during day 1 of the Subway Superbike Doubleheader at Road America in Elkhart Lake WI. In the red flag interrupted AMA Pro Road Racing SuperSport Race 1, Jake Lewis captured the Pole Position and used it to his advantage running up front for the entire race eventually finishing with an advantage of over 3 seconds. Riders Discount CEO Brian Gibson, who was also competing on a Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki GSX-R600, finished the race in 23rd place, which is one better than he qualified. In the AMA Pro Road Racing GoPro Daytona SportBike class Cory West qualified in 11th and Joey Pascarella in 14th but an issue on the warm up lap had Joey switching to his back up bike and having to start from the back of the grid. Joey was able to make his way back to his original grid position finishing the race in 14th while Cory finished with a 7th place result, coming out on top of a 4 way battle for the position. Joey is now in 6th place in the 2012 GoPro Daytona SportBike point standings and Cory is 10th. Jake Lewis Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki #85 “What an awesome weekend so far! It feels good to get my second win of the year especially being the Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki teams home track. The bike was working great in the race and I was able to pull a gap on the field. I’ve felt good all weekend and hopefully I can get the double and finish the weekend strong.” Brian Gibson Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki #88 “We made progress on the bike today which resulted in faster lap times. We are hoping the changes we made to the bike after the race will help us improve our finishing position tomorrow. Special congratulations to Jake Lewis on his first pole position and second win of the season.” Breeann Poland Team Manager Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki “I’m really excited for the team to get a win at its home race. Jake has been strong all weekend and it was great for him to get his first pole position in qualifying and then take the top of the podium. Hopefully the team will be wrapping up the weekend tomorrow with some more great results.” Cory West Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki #57 “I had a decent race. I got a great start and was up around 6th early and then struggled a bit on corner entry. I ended up losing the lead draft and got in a good battle with three other guys for 7th and ended winning my race within the race. I know that if we can improve overnight we can be racing for a top 5 tomorrow! Sorry to my Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki crew for the mishap on the cool down lap, Mother Nature definitely caught me out. Congrats to Jake on an awesome race win today as well!” Joey Pascarella Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki #52 “The Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki team have been working endlessly on my set up and I think we had a good set up for the race but we had an issue with the A bike and I had to race my B bike. Considering the rough day we finished and learned a lot. I can’t wait for tomorrow to get out there and hopefully make my team and hard working mechanics proud. I can’t thank the team, sponsors and my family and friends enough.” Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki would like to thank their sponsors for the 2012 season: Vesrah, Riders Discount, MCJ Motorsports, American Suzuki, Nielsen Enterprises Suzuki, Parts Unlimited, Penske Racing Shocks, Traxxion Dynamics Fork Components, Yoshimura, Catalyst Racing Composites, Shoei, Cortech, Sidi, Held, Motion Pro, Sudco Int., Bazzaz, Factory Pro, Maxima Racing Oils, Spiegler Brake Lines, Adjustable-levers, Vicci, Vortex, DID Chain, Zero Gravity, GPR Stabilizers, Trek Bicycles, Suzuka Tire Warmers, K&N Filters, Full Spectrum Batteries, Oakley (Jake), Roclun (Jake), Progressive Trail Design (Cory), Jon Block Group (Joey), 509 sunglasses (Cory and team), Andrew Swenson Designs and Drippinwet.
