The AMA Superstock race Sunday at Infineon Raceway was halted by a red flag on lap 15 of 17. The incident that caused the red flag involved Bike911.com’s Jason Pridmore and Millennium KWS Suzuki’s Lee Acree. Pridmore was in front of Acree on lap 15 when Pridmore slowed dramatically entering Turn Five, one of the fastest turns on the track. Acree impacted the back of Pridmore’s motorcycle violently, and both riders crashed. Pridmore was seen standing after the incident. Acree stayed down and required medical attention in the impact zone, forcing the race to be stopped. Corona Extra Honda’s Jake Holden was declared the winner over Jordan Suzuki’s Aaron Yates by a margin of 0.237 second. Yates’ teammate Geoff May was scored third, 1.249 seconds behind Holden. The provisional results initially included Pridmore in fifth and Acree in seventh. Revised results were then issued, showing Pridmore and Acree relegated to the end of the lead lap. We will provide an update on the condition of Pridmore and Acree when more information becomes available. UPDATE: Lee Acree was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with compound fractures of his left tibia and fibula, just above the ankle. He is scheduled to undergo surgery Sunday evening or Monday morning. Pridmore was transported to the same hospital by ambulance to further evaluate a concussion. He was treated and released. Pridmore’s engine blew up, causing him to slow dramatically in Acree’s path, according to Pridmore’s mechanic Jeremy Daniel.
