Markus Reiterberger, Beau Beaton and Randy Pagaud were quicker than they were yesterday. A lot of work remains to be done, but the evolution is positive. The day started really well, with Markus taking the fifth position in the free practice session, with Beau fifteenth. Both showed they have a good potential, while Randy is still learning the track and the category. It was a bit more complicated in the afternoon, with Reiterberger running into traffic and Beaton crashing, happily without being hurt. Beau and Randy still have suspension problems that hopefully will be solved for the next race in Monza. Sylvain Barrier (BMW) was the fastest today in front of three Ducati, very much at ease here in Assen on this fast and flowing track. The Italians bikes were ridden by Italian riders: Giugliano, Petrucci and Baroni. Markus Reiterberger: “We changed the settings of the rear suspension for the free practice session and it was much better. In the qualifying, I used the old tyre until the middle of the session. Then we put a new tyre on the rear and I went fast. But the front was always a little bit slippery. When I tried to go faster, there was too much traffic. I am in fourteenth position and we’ll see tomorrow. I need a good start, do well in the beginning of the race”¦ and overtake all the others!” Beau Beaton: “We made some big improvements with the bike today. There are a lot of forward steps. We went 2 seconds faster so it’s a big jump. With the speed you get more problems so we are trying to solve those problems. I had a little problem in qualifications, but I think we’ll make up for it in race pace.” Randy Pagaud:”Today we started with better suspensions so we were immediately 0.5 faster. This afternoon, we progressed on the chassis. You need a lot of motivation here when you are behind and you want to get closer to the front. When I put some new tyres, I was one second quicker. I am looking forward to finish in the top 20 tomorrow.” More, from a press release issued by Team Pedercini: Warm and sunny conditions today in Assen for the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup free practice and qualifying session. The second day of qualifying at the Dutch TT circuit saw team Pedercini’s Superstock riders Staring, Bussolotti and Mercado deliver grid positions for tomorrow’s race that did not reflect the impressive performance of the three riders throughout the sessions. Staring made quick progress from yesterday, improving his set up to finish ninth (1’41″086) in the morning qualifying session, Bussolotti was twelfth (1’41″285) while Mercado is still finding it difficult to understand this new circuit, obtaining only the twentieth position (1’42″425). In the afternoon qualifying session all three riders improved on their best lap times but, due to some set up problems, they were not able to obtain good positions on the starting grid for tomorrow’s races. Bussolotti (1’40″549) secured twelfth position, while Staring (1’40″549) recorded exactly the same lap time, obtaining thirteenth place. Mercado (1’41″221) finished in eighteenth position suffering from a certain lack of grip. So third row for Bussolotti, fourth row for Staring and fifth for Mercado in tomorrow’s 13-lap race. Marco Bussolotti: “I’m pretty satisfied with today’s result. My best lap time is not so bad and also my pace is pretty good. Unfortunately this afternoon I suffered from a lack of grip on the rear and I was not able to push any harder to reach a better position on tomorrow’s starting grid. Thanks to my team for their hard work. Tomorrow it will be a difficult race but I hope to made a quick start and secure a good result.” Bryan Staring: “I’m really disappointed with this afternoon’s session. After the morning’s free practice we changed some things with the bike set up and I was not able to find the same feeling with the bike that I had had before. With the new tyres the bike has a severe lack of grip. It’s something very strange but we have to consider that it’s a new bike for us and we must work hard to understand how to take advantage of its full potential. Tomorrow I’ll try to get away quickly from the fourth row to be able to fight with the leaders.” Leandro Mercado: “Today I worked very hard with my technicians on the bike’s suspension. I improved on my best time but I was unfortunately not able to improve my position. This afternoon I suffered from a lack of grip on my rear tyre and my team is now working to solve the problem. Tomorrow I’ll start from the fifth row and it won’t be easy but I’ll try to do my best and I hope to take some good results.” More, from a press release issued by Go Eleven Team: Not the best debut for the Go Eleven team, that showed its rider Cristian Gamarino during the Superstock 600 European Championship. The italian young ended his race in advance due to a slip after 4 laps, when he was fighting for the score-zone. But there’s gratification for the good session he led and that allowed him to start on the fourth row. The team will try to reverse the trend tomorrow, when at 10.40 a.m will join the Superstock 1000 World Championship with Niccolo’ Canepa and Nico Vivarelli, that ended the qualifying respectively on 16th and 20th placing. Cristian Gamarino – Kawasaki STK 600 #18 – “I’m sorry that I’ve not been able to finish the race. Unluckily I lost the front at the turn’s way-in while I was trying to gain a position. I want to thank the Go Eleven team and GP Project to give me the chance to debut on an international level”. Denis Sacchetti – team manager – “Cristian showed a great potential, paying the lack of experience and the enthusiasm to go on top. I’m sure that during this season, he’ll give us lots of satisfactions. I look forward for a good race from our Superstock 1000 riders tomorrow. We weren’t so fast during the qualifying, due to a new bike that still has to improve, but we have a good rhythm. The goal is to leave Assen with a good outcome and with information that will allow the team to go on with the development”.
