Cody Wyman (Suz GSX-R600), 1:38.379 More, from a press release issued by LTD Racing: LTD RACING’S HUNTLEY NASH ON PROVISIONAL FRONT ROW AT MID-OHIO Lexington, Ohio (July 16, 2010) — LTD Racing’s Huntley Nash qualified third on Friday in the first of two AMA Pro SuperSportqualifying sessions at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Nash, the winner of the most recent AMA SuperSport race in Elkhart Lake, WI, is known more for his race prowess than his qualifying but the 17 year-old put in one of his best efforts yet to earn a spot on the provisional front row. Teammate Tomas Puerta earned fifth place. Puerta looked to join Nash on the front row but experienced a crash in the waning moments of the session that spoiled his bid for a faster lap. Sam Nash, LTD Racing’s Top Gun entrant, returned to action after breaking his hand at Road Atlanta earlier this year. Friday’s action in the heat at Mid-Ohio saw an unusually large number of crashes in SuperSport and all three LTD Racing protagonists hit the tarmac at one point. Luckily, all three were relatively undamaged and looking forward to returning to the undulating Ohio track on Saturday. “I was on pole for a while before everyone put in times on fresh tires at the end,” said Huntley, from Marietta, GA. “I came in and then did about 10 laps after that, putting in my best lap on the sixth time around. It was a 1:31.4, a little off pole. I think the top guys are close when it comes to race pace and the weekend is going well for me. The track is slippery but I’m comfortable with it. I think it suits me more than some of my fellow competitors, maybe. This was probably my best qualifying session in a while. I was pretty bummed after the first session because I bumped into another rider and went down, but the team did a great job of getting my bike ready before qualifying. I think this is shaping up as a good race for us.” For the hard-charging Puerta, the session was positive until the end. “We were trying some new things with the bike and it was working well,” said the Medellin, Colombia native. “With three minutes to go, I tried to push harder to get on pole and I lost the front. I’m okay but we’ll have to see what happens tomorrow.” Tomy’s best time was 1:31.682. Sam Nash’s best time was 1:37.812 “It was my first sessions back after breaking the hand and I was a little rusty,” said Sam, from Marietta, GA. “I’ve never been here before and was learning the track when I nearly highsided and ran off the tarmac and I ended up dumping it. Mainly, I have a bruised ego but I’m really looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow. I struggled a little bit but I think I have it sorted. I went back out for a couple of laps after the crash and I’ll work on getting better.” “Everybody is trying real hard but the boys will have to back it down just a little bit,” said LTD Racing’s Director of Competition Gary Medley. “The track is greasy and, listening to the radio, there were people falling down everywhere. It’s not the boys’ fault. It’s the way the track is and they are trying hard and being competitive.” Tomorrow’s first 17-lap race of the Mid-Ohio SuperSport doubleheader begins at 1 PM local time.
