Quay Garage Racing’s Tommy Bridewell was in action at Brands Hatch yesterday for the official test prior to the opening round of the 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship over Easter and reported a satisfactory day at the Kent track. The 21 year old from Etchilhampton near Devizes tested the ex Gregorio Lavilla Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade at a weather-affected Guadix in Spain last week but got down to business at the Brands Indy circuit where he recorded a fastest time of 46.8 seconds despite track conditions being less than favourable after an oil spillage. Tommy Bridewell: “I’m pleased with how the day went and considering the traffic and track conditions at times, for us to consistently lap sub 47 seconds shows we’re somewhere near. I’m not sure what everyone else was doing time wise but that’s not important as it’s come the races that matter, we just concentrated on getting a good set up. We only used two rear race tyres throughout the day and those times would have comfortably put us in the top ten at last year’s pace but there’s much more to come from both me and the bike. I don’t see any reason why we can’t be challenging for podiums this season.” The opening round of the 2010 MCE British Superbike Championship takes place at Brands Hatch on Easter Monday and for further information, please visit www.quaygarageracing.com or www.britishsuperbike.com 2010 Calendar R1 Brands Hatch 3/4/5 April R2 Thruxton 16/17/18 April R3 Oulton Park 1/2/3 May R4 Cadwell Park 21/22/23 May R5 Mallory Park 25/26/27 June R6 Knockhill 2/3/4 July R7 Snetterton 16/17/18 July R8 Brands Hatch GP 6/7/8 August R9 Cadwell Park 28/29/30 August R10 Croft 10/11/12 September R11 Silverstone GP 24/25/26 September R12 Oulton Park 8/9/10 October More, from a press release issued by Team GNS Racing: LOWES ON LAP RECORD PACE AT BRANDS HATCH Fuchs Silkolene British Supersport Championship Team GNS Racing has concluded their hectic pre-season testing schedule with both Sam Lowes and Paul Jordan taking part in the official BSB test at Brands Hatch yesterday. Following extensive testing in Spain over the past couple of weeks, 19-year-old Lincoln rider Lowes was again amongst the fastest riders on track aboard his CBR600 Honda whilst 18-year-old Paul Jordan from Magherafelt in Northern Ireland upped his pace considerably as the day progressed for the Southampton-based team. Despite sliding off, Lowes was on lap record pace throughout the day and Jordan continued his transition to four-stroke racing with some good lap times. Sam Lowes, #11 Team Rider: “Everything went really well at Brands Hatch and we managed to get the bike working exactly how we want it to which allowed us to lap in the low 47s throughout a race distance which is very encouraging and compares well to the race from 2009. I was very happy to match the lap record and prove how well the team has worked throughout the winter and in testing and I would like to say a massive thank you to the whole team and sponsors as we are now 100% ready for the first race. I am very confident about what we can achieve and I couldn’t be happier with the whole set up. It’s very nice to see the whole team smiling and I’m loving it right now so roll on Brands.” Paul Jordan, #61 Team Rider: “It was good to get back on the bike in the UK and especially important to get a set up at the track we’ll be racing at in a couple of weeks’ time and we have made considerable progress. The pace is going to be extremely hot this year and I now feel a lot more comfortable with everything and that’s all down to the fantastic work of the team who are 100% behind me. Hopefully we can get a good result in the opening race to repay everyone who is helping me.” Gary Stubbington, GNS Team Owner: “Once again, our riders have done us proud and Sam is going to be a major contender this year in my opinion as he’s proved once again he’s as fast as anyone out there. Paul has come on in leaps and bounds in the past couple of tests and it won’t be long before he’s up there and challenging too. Now the hard work starts in preparation for the opening round and hopefully we can have a good season.” Brands Hatch hosts the opening round of the 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship on Easter weekend (2/3/4/5 April).
