AMA Pro racer Chris Ulrich and track day provider Fastrack Riders teamed up to raise $1455 for injured racer Vincent Haskovec and the Roadracing World Action Fund this weekend at California Speedway, in Fontana, California. Ulrich gave 44 individuals rides (25 riders on Sunday alone) around the 2.36-mile, 21-turn infield road course on his Pirelli-shod Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki GSX-R1000 two-seat AMA Superstock racebike in exchange for donations to Haskovec and The Fund. Ulrich reached indicated speeds of 160 mph on California Speedway’s long front straightaway, achieved knee-dragging lean angles in the corners, rode long wheelies and passed hordes of track day riders all while doing the two-up rides. Ulrich normally uses his two-seat racebike to promote the AMA Superbike Championship by taking local mainstream media representatives for rides prior to AMA events. Fastrack Riders supported the fundraising rides with publicity, unlimited track time, support personnel and free use of its collection of rental riding gear. Fastrack Riders also held a silent auction of donated products, services and motorcycling memorabilia to benefit Haskovec and The Fund. The amount raised by the silent auction was not available at post time. J.T. Motorsports’ Dan Shaffner contributed to the fundraising effort by providing DVD videos (shot from forward- and rearward-facing cameras mounted on his racebike) of some of the individuals’ rides for additional donations. Shaffner provides on-board video service at most track days held in Southern California. Ulrich and Fastrack Riders held a similar fundraiser last year on Thanksgiving Day weekend. That event saw 25 people take a ride with Ulrich on the two-seat racebike.
