A red flag came out with 2 minutes, 51 seconds left in the fast-group Supersport qualifying session at California Speedway Saturday afternoon, and officials declared the session to be over rather than restart it. The red flag caught several riders out before they put on new tires for their final run, including defending Supersport Champion Jamie Hacking, who was eighth fastest at 1:27.516 and Barber winner Josh Hayes, fourth at 1:27.384. Celtic Racing’s Chaz Davies went to the top early in the session, was knocked down the order several times but was back in first when the red flag fell. 2007 Pro Honda Oils AMA Supersport Championship Presented by Shoei Helmets California Speedway Fontana, California Saturday, April 28 Provisional Qualifying Results: 1. Chris Ulrich claimed a middle spot on row two for the final with the sixth fastest time, on his Roadracingworld.com Suzuki GSX-R1000. Taking the outside spot on row two is Columbian sensation Martin Cardenas on his Kawasaki ZX-10R, with Ulrich’s teammate Robertino Pietri setting the 11th fastest time, all making the most of Pirelli’s Diablo Superbike Slicks. Fastest of all riders in Formula Xtreme practice was Attack Kawasaki’s Steve Rapp, on his Daytona 200 winning ZX-6R, while his teammate Ben Attard was right behind him at second fastest, using the Diablo Superbike Slicks. The FX final on Saturday afternoon was not exactly perfectly swell, with Pirelli riders Michael Barnes, Steve Rapp and Barrett Long finishing fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Despite their highly placed gird positions, front runners Ben Attard and Cory West were unable to finish due to mechanical entropy.
