Pascarella will start fourth and Nash will start eighth. Pascarella’s best time was 1:32.959 and Nash set a mark of 1:34.420. Today’s sessions were held in ideal weather at the 2.55-mile circuit located northeast of Atlanta. “I think I have a little more for when the race starts tomorrow,” said Joey of Vacaville, California. “These guys are really fast and I can’t wait to get out there and compete against them. Daytona was a blast and it looks like we’ll have another close one here. The wrist is feeling fine. I injured it in Supermoto at Fontana but we’re okay. I’m looking forward to getting out there and racing.” Nash will start on the second row, directly behind his teammate. “This was the fastest I have been around Road Atlanta yet,” said Nash, from Marietta, Georgia. “I’m pleased, but I still have some improvements to make to catch up with the competition. I’m looking forward to getting some laps in to fine tune my riding a little more in the Sunday morning warm-up, then hoping to do well in the race.” The 16-lap Supersport race begins at 3:00PM local time on Sunday. More, from a press release issued by Syndicate Motorsports Management: JOSH DAY AND TEAM ESP/ VENEMOTOS YAMAHA SET POLE IN AMA SUPERSPORT April 4, 2009 (Braselton, GA)”” Team ESP/ Venemotos Yamaha continue to build on their productive first day at Road Atlanta. However, the second day was not without problems for the Tucson, Arizona based team. Josh Day set pole position in today’s Supersport qualifying with a time of 1:32.0, the elation of setting pole was tempered when Josh crashed his Yamaha R6 in turn 5 with a few minutes left in the session. As the team celebrated setting pole, they anxiously awaited the arrival of the crashed motorcycle. Although the motorcycle will be ready to go for tomorrow’s Supersport race, the ESP/ Venemotos team has a long few hours in front of them getting the machine race ready. The Daytona Sportbike race could also be classified as a success with Robertino Pietri finishing fifteenth in the red-flag shortened race. Pietri was able to overcome a lackluster start and was able to finish strong with a string of laps in the mid 1:31’s. The team will make some minor adjustments to the R6 tonight based on today’s race data and expect to be battling for a top ten in tomorrow’s race. Robertino Pietri: “My ESP/ Venemotos R6 was really good today in the race. I struggled in the first few laps to get comfortable with the machine. After a few laps, I got into a groove and started clicking off good lap times, unfortunately by then I lost touch with the lead group. Tomorrow, I will focus on getting a better start and, if I run the times I ran today, should be battling for a top ten finish. “ Josh Day: “My ESP/ Venemotos R6 was awesome today in qualifying, right up to the point where I crashed it! Luckily for me, the time I did before I crashed was good enough for pole position. Tomorrow, I just need to get a good clean start and try and breakaway. After making my guys work all night tonight to put my bike back together, I need to reward them with a good strong finish.” Phil Allison: (ESP co-owner) “A pole, a crash, and a top fifteen finish. Overall a good day, we just need to focus on eliminating the setbacks and crashes and start building some real momentum. We’ll keep building on what we established today, and hopefully be celebrating even better achievements tomorrow!” For Sponsorship inquiries contact Murph at Syndicate Motorsport Management, LLC: (+1) 831 464 3458 or email: [email protected] Team ESP/ Venemotos Yamaha: Evan Steel Performance is a small, personal, specialized shop located in Tucson, Arizona that deals with all aspects of motorcycle road racing.
