Doodson Motorsport Donington Park The Doodson Motorsport Team were back in action at the Donington Park round of the British Superbike Championship with AMA Superbike regular David Anthony posting a solid performance on his debut with the team. The 30 year old Australian now resides in California competing in the AMA American Superbike Championship with numerous top ten finishes under his belt. “Aussie Dave” is no stranger to the British Superbike paddock having ridden in Supersport and Superstock classes, not to mention a successful foray into the Superbike EVO championship last year, scoring a double win at Thruxton. Taking the place of injured team regular Tom Tunstall, Anthony flew direct from the final round of AMA in New Jersey to Donington Park to get his first taste of the high powered Doodson Motorsport BMW S1000RR race bike. Using practice and qualifying to continue to acclimatise to the German machine and the unfamiliar 2.48 mile Leicestershire track, David’s progress was consistent. Averaging 96.75mph over the lap he secured the seventh fastest time of the EVO runners. In the first of Sunday’s two 20lap races the rear tyre spun on the wheel rim early in the race, throwing the wheel out of balance and severely hampering his efforts. The vibration deteriorated and eventually Anthony had to pit to change the rear tyre. Race two proved more fruitful and the Aussie was up to fifth by the end of lap one. Equalling his qualifying pace he passed South African Hudson Kennaugh on lap ten, but was passed by Evo front runners Graham Gowland and Glen Richards taking a solid sixth place at the chequered flag. The experience gained gives Anthony a great foundation to build on as the championship moves to the penultimate round at Silverstone in just less than two weeks. More, from a press release issued by CayloR-Made Motorsports: CayloR-Made Motorsports The Compound Race Report Barber Motorsports Park WERA National For the second time in 2011, the CayloR-Made Motorsports Crew descended upon Barber Motorsports Park this past weekend. WERA held this National Endurance Series and National Challenge Series event on the 10th Anniversary of one of America’s most tragic days. A short ceremony was held on Sunday, just before racing got underway, to pay tribute to the victims of 9/11. The first race of the weekend actually happened on Saturday, with the WERA National Endurance Series four hour race. CayloR-Made Motorsports sponsored CCF Office Solutions Racing, ridden by John Risconsin, Fred Turner, Dave Krier, Derek Mugge and Kevin Mills, charged up through the field. At races end, the team placed 10th overall and took the Trophy Class win on their GSX-R600. CayloR-Made’s first shot across the bow on Sunday came in race two, Open Superstock Expert. Opie Caylor launched hard from the third row to move all the way into second place in turn one. Opie stalked the race leader throughout the first couple of corners and took the lead at the end of the back straight on lap one. Once into the lead, Opie settled into a comfortable pace and started building a small gap. Opie, with clean air out front, turned laps as quickly as 1:28.3 and went on to win the race with a stand-up wheelie the entire length of the front straight. After the race Opie said, “I wish I could always get those kind of starts! I got off the line well, and got into turn one right behind the leader. I knew that I had to get going quickly with the races being cut to only six laps. I went by the leader at the end of the back straight and just tried to get into a rhythm. Thermosman has my GSXR1000 working so well for me. I went with Dunlop’s 7614 Soft rear tire and I think that is what helped me get to the front so fast! I did a couple of low 28’s in the beginning and was able to pull away for the win.” CayloR-Made’s Dave Krier came out swinging this weekend and did the double! In Senior Superbike Novice, Dave hole-shotted the entire field on his ex-Vincent Haskovec M4 GSXR750 and simply dominated everyone. In fact, the race was red-flagged on lap five of six and Krier already had an entire front straightaway lead over second place. In E Superstock Novice, Krier came from deep within the grid and battled his way to his second win of the day on his CayloR-Made Motorsports Ninja 250 while lapping the field in the six lap sprint race. Derek Mugge showed up big this weekend and rode his Dunlop shod Suzuki GSXR1000 to 3rd in Senior Superbike Novice making it two CayloR-Made sponsored riders in the top three! Mugge put it on the box again by taking 2nd in the Clubman Novice race aboard his Aprilia 550. John Risconsin, another member of the CayloR-Made Compound, was on the gas and finished on the podium in each of the hotly contested 600cc Novice races. He took third in C Superbike Novice and came away with second in C Superstock Novice. BMW mounted rider Nikk Rogers is getting faster every time out and finished 2nd in Open Superstock Novice. In Formula One Novice, an inter-compound battle ensued with Matt Dalke finishing half-a-bike length in front of Nikk. The weekend ended prematurely though with a short but violent thunderstorm which led to the cancellation of the day’s final two races. Opie concluded with, “It’s a bummer we didn’t get the featured WERA Superbike race in today. I was really looking forward to a good battle but I guess it just wasn’t meant to be today! Hopefully, we can get that race in maybe at the GNF or something.” Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Compound this weekend, including Dani Mugge and family, Rocket, Eric Douglas, Robert Bradley, Georgia Gayle Turner, Wayne and Debbie Degourney, and all the friends and family who kept the Compound clicking! Come see CayloR-Made Motorsports in action during the 2011 WERA Grand National Finals October 26 – 30 at Road Atlanta, in Braselton, Georgia. More, from a pres release issued by KWS Motorsports: KWS Motorsports and Millennium Technologies Win Again at WERA Barber National. Charleston, SC September, 2011 KWS Motorsports sponsored riders Tim Hunt, Jake Lewis, and Luie Zendejas won four races and achieved four more podium finishes at the WERA National event at Barber Motorsports Park. 2011 750 Superstock and Superbike champion Jake Lewis continued his dominance of the 750 classes by winning both races by comfortable margins on his KWS Motorsports built, Earl’s Racing Yamaha R6. In the 600 Superstock and 600 Superbike races, Lewis faced tough competition from recent AMA Pro SuperSport winner Garrett Gerloff. The two young riders were easily the fastest riders at the event, turning incredible lap times on their Dunlop equipped R6’s, but Gerloff was able to pull out the advantage for the wins. Lewis finished a close second in both classes maintaining his points lead in 600 Superbike and making it only five points back in 600 Superstock. Both championships will come down the final event of the season at the WERA Grand National Finals at Road Atlanta. Apex Racing’s Tim Hunt won both the Senior Superbike and F1 races and finished in second in Open Superstock on his Dunlop-shod, Race Tech-equipped Suzuki GSX-R1000. Unfortunately the WERA Superbike race was cancelled due to a late thunderstorm. Hunt’s podium finish in Open Superstock put’s him fifteen points ahead in the championship with one round left. Officials have not decided on a solution for WERA Superbike at this time KWS Motorsport’s Luie Zendejas continued to drop his personal best lap time at a every track he has been too this year. At Barber, Zendejas finished on the podium in the F1 race and in sixth position in Open Superstock on his Millennium Technologies sponsored BMW S1000RR. Luie is currently third in WERA Superbike points and fourth in Open Superstock in his first full season as an expert. Jake Lewis “We had a great time this weekend and the Earl’s Racing R6 ran great, we just didn’t have the speed for Garrett in the 600 classes so I tried to ride smart get the most points possible. I was really happy to get the wins in the 750 classes and I am super excited about going to the GNF and racing for the 600 championships. Thanks to Earl’s Racing Team, Roclun, Princeton Pawn, STT, Dunlop, Roadracing World and of course Millennium and KWS!” Tim Hunt “All in all it was a really good weekend! The KWS built GSX-R1000 was a bullet all weekend. The bike came off the truck with a pretty good set up, but Race Tech helped fine tune it for sure. I was really looking forward to the WERA Superbike race at the end of the day and I think we had a great chance of winning it, but with the lightning safety has to come first. I really want to thank my mechanic Aaron Ralph and all sponsors for their support!” Luie Zendejas “Barber is a difficult track for the BMW S1000RR, but with the help of Michael Godin and Mike Fitzgerald we were able to come up with a great set up and came away with another podium finish. Thanks a ton to Thermosman Suspension, Riders Discount, and Drippin Wet for all the help this weekend!” Chip Spalding (KWS Manager) “Once again, all the guys did a great job, rode smart, and came home with the points. Jake already has two championships locked up and both Jake and Tim will win a couple of more at the GNF if doing what they have been doing all year. Luie is riding awesome in his first full season as an expert and a big congrats to Dan Crawford for winning two national championships in his first year of racing!
