M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Geoff May had a big day, earning two front-row starting positions. In Superstock May rode his Suzuki GSX-R1000 to the fourth fastest time, then rode his GSX-R600 to the third fastest time in Supersport qualifying, posting a time just 1.5 tenths of a second from the pole-winning lap. Also in Superstock, Roadracingworld.com’s Chris Ulrich earned a spot on row two with the eighth-best time in qualifying. Ulrich’s teammate, Pietri Robertino, was unable to participate in qualifying after turning the eighth-fastest lap during morning practice. Additionally qualifying on Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slicks in the top 15 in Superstock were Gary Mason in 11th on a roadracingworld.com prepared GSX-R1000, Scott Jensen on the Team HALOF Racing Suzuki in 12th, and Scott Carpenter in 15th. Pirelli riders complementing Geoff May’s third place on the Supersport grid using Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa DOT race tires are Steve Rapp on an Attack Kawasaki ZX-6R placing fifth for the race, May’s teammate Martin Cardenas earning eighth, Rapp’s teammate Ben Attard and the Giacchetto’ tuned R-6 of Cory West each on the fourth row in 13th and 15th respectively. Mixing it up in the Formula Xtreme race, Pirelli riders took four of the top-ten finishing positions in Saturday’s race at Virginia International Raceway, with Ben Attard earning fourth on his Attack Kawasaki, unable to bring home the win from his pole position. Josh Hayes took the win. Behind Attard in fifth was Columbian road-racing sensation Martin Cardenas, riding a GSX-R600 prepared by the crew of M4 EMGO Suzuki. Cardenas qualified ninth for the competition but moved up in the standings during the race to finish fifth. This was Cardenas’ first time at VIR and he was helped in learning the track by his teammate Geoff May. Other top finishing Pirelli riders in FX on Diablo Superbike Slicks include Steve Rapp in seventh on his Attack Kawasaki ZX-6R, Cory West in ninth on his Chuck Giacchetto tuned Yamaha YZF-R6, Taylor Knapp in 13th and David Anthony in 15th.
