AMA Pro Racing regular Jake Holden showed up for the season-opener of the Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association’s (CVMA) 2012 season and dominated the big-bore classes, re-setting the club’s lap record time en route.

Aboard his Evan Steel Performance-prepared, Dunlop-shod BMW S1000RR, Holden won Saturday’s Dunlop/Jim Cox Racing Formula Open six-lap sprint, then won it again on Sunday, in the process lowering the track record to a blistering 1:45.811, more than a second quicker than the record set last year by Steve Rapp on an Attack Performance Kawasaki Superbike. Later on Sunday, Holden took the fearsome BMW back out for the SoCal Track Days Open Shootout and dominated the field.

Dale Kieffer took his Racers Edge-backed, Pirelli-shod Suzuki GSX-R1000 to second, ahead of Canadian racer Pete deGraaf aboard a Dunlop-shod Suzuki GSX-R1000.

In the TrackDaz Middleweight Shootout, Lex Hartl took his Graves Motorsports-backed, Dunlop-shod Yamaha YZF-R6 to the win, followed by Jeffrey Tigert on a Cyclemall/CM Motorsports-backed, Bridgestone-shod Honda CBR600RR and Tyler Linders on an Outlaw Racing/ADR-backed, Pirelli-shod Yamaha YZF-R6.

In the Lightweight Shootout, Evan Markus drew first blood on his West Coast GP Cycles-backed, Bridgestone-shod Suzuki SV650, ahead of Johnathan Marquez on a Bridgestone-shod SV650 and Andrew Zabzdyr aboard a West Coast GP Cycles-backed, Pirelli-shod SV650.

Tigert won Saturday’s InHouse Suspension SuperSport Middleweight race, with Linders taking the win on Sunday. Tigert and Linders also split wins in the Michelin/Podium Tire Formula Middleweight races.

Ivan Sala won the Pirelli/Racers Edge SuperSport Open race on Saturday aboard his Honda CBR1000RR, while Christian Readyhoff took both Bridgestone/Cyclemall Formula Twins races aboard his West Coast GP Cycles-backed, Bridgestone-shod SV650.

The event drew a good turnout, with more than 170 racers in attendance.
