Updated: More Rain Likely Saturday Afternoon At Road America

At lunchtime Saturday a line of strong thunderstorms was approaching Road America from the southwest and was expected to arrive at the track in the early afternoon, according to www.weather.com. Saturday afternoon’s schedule calls for Superstock qualifying, Group Two (the faster group) followed by Group One (the slower group); Supersport qualifying, Group Two followed by Group One; the 16-lap Superbike race at 3:20 p.m.; and the 10-lap Formula Xtreme final at 4:45 p.m. At Friday’s rider’s meeting, AMA Racing Road Race Manager Morgan Broadhead laid out a series of contingency plans to handle rain-affected qualifying sessions and races this weekend. The races will be held in the rain as long as conditions allow. Update: At 12:44 p.m. local time, six minutes before the start of Superstock qualifying, it started raining at Road America.
