MOTO-ST officials have declared Troy Green the overall SST Champion, following a review of rider logs. They had previously declared Ty Howard the overall SST Champion, but Howard’s team completed fewer laps than Green’s team during the MOTO-ST finale at Daytona last Saturday. Prior to Saturday’s 8-hour event, Green and Howard had been teammates on Aprilia USA 1 and were tied in 2007 season points. But for the season finale, Green was assigned to Aprilia USA 2; Aprilia USA 1 DNF the race after Howard’s new teammate Ben Thompson and teammate Henry Wiles both crashed. Official revised top-10 SST point standings follow: 1. Troy Green, 179 points 2. Ty Howard, 175 3. Mark Crozier, 165 4. Nathan Dressman, 146 5. Brian Parriott, 142 6. Mike Himmelsbach, 140 7. Gustavo Laya, 140 8. Mark Reynolds, 138 9. Steven Green/Scott Layman/J.B. Layman, 131 10. Chris Ulrich, 130 And now a comment from Mr. Champion Green himself: FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: I would like to thank you guys for both looking into this and for publishing the correction! I would like to thank a few people for all their help winning this award and for all their help during the 2007 Moto-ST Season. First and foremost David Lloyd, the owner of the Team Aprilia USA entries; he signed me up as a rider having never met me. Also thanks to my good friend Eric Kelcher for recommending me to David. My teammate Ty Howard was the real Star of the MOTO-ST series, he was consistently the fastest rider at most events, so he was obviously a huge part of me earning the Riders Championship and both of us winning the Team Championship. I would also like to thank my girlfriend Amber for coming to the races and helping both myself and the team during the weekends, she even chose helping out at the MOTO-ST races over a few of her own off-road race weekends. In endurance racing to compete for wins you have to have a great team, Chuck, Mike, Ed, Dean, and all the other temporary team members through the year worked towards the same goal and did a fantastic job. The Aprilia Tuono is a great racebike and the Pirelli tires worked awesome. Aprilia USA, AF1 Racing, Agip, STStands, and all our other sponsors helped the Team keep our bikes up front!
