The owners of Chuckwalla Valley Raceway have announced a new motorcycle racing series based at the racetrack, and a new racing organization to run that series. The track is located in Desert Center, California, roughly halfway between Indio and Blythe, California, along Interstate 10 at mile marker 192, north of the Desert Center/Rice Road (California Highway 177) exit. The track is also roughly halfway between Los Angeles, California and Phoenix, Arizona. The Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association (CVMA) has a new website, ~http://www.cvmaracing.com~ which includes information on classes and rules. Each race weekend will be preceded by a Friday practice day run by TrackDaz. Races will be run on Saturday and Sunday in a double-header format. Race weekends will alternate between running the track in the clockwise and the counter-clockwise direction. The 2011 CVMA schedule follows: March 12-13, Clockwise April 16-17, Counter-Clockwise May 28-29, Clockwise September 24-25, Counter-Clockwise October 22-23, Clockwise November 12-13, Counter-Clockwise More information will be posted as it becomes available. More, from a press release issued by CVMA: Southern California’s Newest Race Track To Host Six-Round Motorcycle Road Race Series Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, Southern California’s newest purpose-built road racing course, will host the West’s newest motorcycle road racing series. Operated by the Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association, the six-round series kicks off in March and features racing for a wide variety of motorcycles during an entire weekend dedicated to racing. “It has been a dream of mine to operate a motorcycle race series designed by racers and for racers,” says Micky Grana, president and operator of Chuckwalla Valley Raceway and a racer himself. “With CVMA, racers get more of what they came for racing!” The headline race for CVMA events will be the Chuckwalla Valley Unlimited Shootout, a 12-lap sprint for the wildest, fastest motorcycles on the planet. The Unlimited Shootout will be one of a trio of Shootout races that will be the feature events on Sunday. The Shootout races will run by displacement category and race distance will be longer than the sprints. On Saturdays, CVMA will kick off the action with a one-hour “tag team” race, and the club will feature a full schedule of sprint racing on Saturday afternoons. Because the Ed Bargy-designed course was penned with motorcycle road racing in mind, the wide, 2.68-mile, 17-turn track can safely be run in both directions. The schedule for 2010 is: March 12-13 (Clockwise) April 16-17 (Counter-Clockwise) May 28-29 (Clockwise) September 24-25 (Counter-Clockwise) October 22-23 (Clockwise) November 12-13 (Counter-Clockwise) Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is located near Desert Center, California, and is an easy drive from the Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix metropolitan areas.
