Wayne Hepburn (Yam YZF-R6), 1:36.599 More, from a press release issued by LTD Racing: NASH STRONG ON FRIDAY AT NEW JERSEY MOTORSPORTS PARK Millvile, New Jersey (Sept 4, 2010) Huntley Nash was second in both sessions at New Jersey Motorsports Park, but more importantly was fast over longer runs as he prepares for the two AMA Pro SuperSport races this weekend in New Jersey. Teammate Tomas Puerta was also quick and qualified sixth on Friday. Nash led most of the rainy first session as he ran a complete race distance on a full wet set of Dunlops. The Georgian was topped at the end of the session when the track began to dry and the DOT tire became the best choice. In afternoon qualifying, Nash concentrated on bettering his speed in the dry as he and former teammate Joey Pascarella traded quick times. “I feel good about today. Second wasn’t bad. I stayed out there for a long time working on getting a feel for things rather than trying to come in change the bike and go for one quick lap. Joey (Pascarella) and I had a good battle for the top spot. He’s riding great and he beat me out at the end but we’re looking forward to a good couple of races this weekend. I am really prepared for this weekend and I can’t wait for the races.” On Friday, Nash went four seconds faster than his best 2009 lap at NJMP. Tomas Puerta is in the mix for glory at New Jersey, too. The Colombian had some issues on Friday but the Laguna Seca polestter is as determined as ever as he qualified sixth provisionally. “I don’t want the second row, I want the first row,” said Tomas Puerta. “I like this track. The racetrack is fun and I did some good times here last year. Today we had a little problem with the clutch and it cost us some time, so we’re looking forward to getting another chance tomorrow. The goal is to get on the front row, then get a good start in the races.” “We had a good day,” said LTD Racing’s Gary Medley. “Huntley, as far as I am concerned, is on his game plan. Tomy wasn’t far off. We had some clutch issues on his bike but we got those fixed and that will help his corner entry.” Saturday afternoon sees the first of two SuperSport contests this weekend.
