AMA Formula Xtreme qualifying has been temporarily delayed at Road America due to rain at the four-mile-long racetrack. As Superbike qualifying ended and Formula Xtreme qualifying began Friday afternoon, light, scattered rain sprinkles turned into a full-on rain shower. AMA Pro Racing has declared the event “wet” and will proceed with Formula Xtreme qualifying after a short delay to allow riders to change to rain tires. Shortly after AMA Pro Racing made the determination, however, it began to hail at the track. More details will be posted when they become available. Update: AMA Formula Xtreme qualifying has been postponed until Saturday morning, when it will replace a Formula Xtreme practice session that was already on the schedule. A rain shower hit Road America at the start of Formula Xtreme qualifying Friday afternoon, causing a delay for riders to change to rain tires. It rained long enough to completely soak the track, and then it stopped. Faced with a 6:00 p.m. noise curfew, AMA Pro Racing officials announced at 4:30 p.m. that FX qualifying had been postponed until Saturday due to there not being enough time to dry the racetrack and complete the qualifying session.
