It turns out that Tommy Hayden broke the scaphoid bone in his right wrist when he crashed while testing a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000 at Sepang November 16. Hayden said he crashed at the top of third gear with no warning. Indications are that the bike suffered a mechanical problem. The newly discovered wrist problem means Hayden will not attend the Dunlop tire test at Daytona this coming week. Update: Speaking at Daytona International Speedway Monday morning, Yoshimura Suzuki Team Manager Don Sakakura said there was no evidence that a mechanical failure caused Tommy Hayden to crash while testing in Malaysia.
