Tommy Hayden, 29 points More, from a press release issued on behalf of Pirelli: Pirelli Steals AMA Supersport Podium: May 2nd, Barnes 3rd Team M4 EMGO Suzuki rider Geoff May shot into the top three of the leader board in Sunday morning’s Superstock practice. With all the teams back on race rubber, May reached times faster than he had in qualifying while most of the other racers were unable to match the times they laid down the previous day. With his GSX-R1000 shod in a set of Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slicks, May set a time within three hundredths of a second from the fastest rider in the morning practice. Launching to the front from his grid position on the second row, May was into second place on the Superstock race’s first lap. May held onto the podium position until lap seven, when he was passed. May finished in the lead group, grabbing fourth place, nearly ten seconds ahead of the next bike. May is now fourth in Superstock points, merely seven points from third. Young gun Matt Lynn, riding for Team KWS, fought his way through the grid for a tenth place finish. Continuing with their front-running pace, M4 EMGO Suzuki Michael Barnes and Geoff May were second and fifth fastest on their Suzuki GSX-R600s in Sunday morning’s Supersport practice. Barnes flew to a 2:19.736 lap time, less than four tenths off his qualifying time. In the Supersport final, Barnes and May made the best of their SuperCorsa Pro Pirellis, with Barnes launching into second right from the start. May had to making up ground from sixth, quickly putting the pass on three riders to hunt for Barnes in second. Barnes held pace with the race leader while everyone faded except May, who made his way to battle with Barnes for a higher step on the podium. For the race’s final two laps Barnes and May traded second place over and over, stealing the show. At race’s end May barely had the advantage, finishing second with Barnes rubbing his paint in third. Team KWS Superbike racer, Matt Lynn, moved up on the timing board in Sunday morning’s open practice, once again establishing himself as the fastest Pirelli rider in the Superbike class, using Diablo Superbike Slicks. In Race Two Lynn ran a strong 12th until his engine became externally lubricated and unstarted.
