Former Suzuki SV650 Cup Champion Jesse Janisch has been cut from Kevin Hanson’s Safety First Racing AMA race team. “We kind of expected it wouldn’t make the whole season. It was just one of those things. It didn’t seem like it was flowing very good,” said 17-year-old Janisch, who started riding for Safety First Racing halfway through the 2004 season and planned to compete in the 2005 AMA 600cc Supersport Championship for the Chicago-based team. “It’s unfortunate because I think Kevin has a good program. These things happen. What can you do about it? “I basically got the news two days ago. (Hanson) called us up and said he wanted to have a team meeting. He said, ‘I think you’re a really good rider. I think you’re a good endurance rider, but I don’t feel you’re cut out to race sprints. I don’t think you ride at 100 percent.’ “He’s sponsored by Suomy, and I’m sponsored by Arai. He said he was disappointed that I didn’t want to wear Suomy. He felt it would be better if we went our separate ways.” Roadracingworld.com was unable to immediately reach Hanson for comment. Asked what his plans were for the rest of the season, Janisch said, “We have no money, no bikes, no nothing. So we don’t really know what we are going to do right now.” More, from a press release issued by Safety First Racing’s Kevin Hanson: Unfortunately as team owner of Safety First Racing, I’ve had to make some tough decisions that are in the best interest of sponsors and the team. Jesse Janisch and Jason Farrell have been released from Safety First Racing and allowed to pursue other opportunities. I am currently in the process of filling two 600 Supersport opportunities and look forward to continuing to provide all of my sponsors with a high level of professionalism. Jason is getting ready to open a new motorcycle shop in Oshkosh,WI and I wish him the best of luck with his new business and Jesse as well with his future racing endeavors.
