Six-time and defending AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin was unofficially the fastest rider during an AMA team test Monday at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama. Riding his Dunlop-shod Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 Superbike, Mladin lapped the 2.3-mile, 16-turn road course in 1:25.5, not far off his lap record of 1:25.047, which he set during qualifying for last year’s Superbike race. No crashes were reported by sources at the track. The weather at the track was mild Monday, but rain is forecast for Tuesday. Here is a sample of lap times taken Monday: Superbike: 1.
