WERA Motorcycle Roadracing, Inc. has released its 2004 National Challenge and National Endurance schedules, which include dates on the west coast for the first time in several years.
WERA 2004 National schedules include events at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Classic Course–the road course outside of the NASCAR Speedway–and a date at California Speedway in Fontana, California.
Contacted on his way to the AMA Pro Racing awards banquet in Las Vegas, Nevada, WERA Operations Manager Sean Clarke said the expansion of the WERA National series to the west coast was mainly the result of two things.
“First, we wanted to get our current riders and teams more exposure on the National level, and we wanted to let the guys on the west coast participate in WERA events,” said Clarke.
Clarke added that feedback from an online survey conducted by Fastrack Riders Association’s David Pyles played a “large part” in WERA’s decision to expand to the west coast.
An announcement concerning WERA Sportsman/regional series events on the west coast is in the works, said Clarke.
