MArtin Cardenas, 84 More, from a press release issued by Pirelli: Rapp Repeats All Over Again with Another FX Podium for Pirelli, And Fastest Supersport Lap Rome, GA On day two at the combined AMA Superbike/World Superbike event at Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park, Attack Kawasaki rider Steve Rapp added numbers to his second-place points tally with a well-earned third-place finish in Friday’s Formula Xtreme final. On Miller’s longest configuration of 4.486 miles, Attack Kawasaki’s Rapp quickly secured third ahead of fourth-placed fellow Pirelli rider Larry Pegram on the Leo Vince/Foremost Insurance Ducati 848. In a three-way battle for fourth for most of the race was M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Cory West scoring sixth at the checkered flag, in only his second FX race for the season. The fourth Pirelli rider finishing in the FX top-ten was Nicky Moore on his Moto Uno Kawasaki. The race was won by Jake Zemke. After five races Rapp is second and Pegram is third, while Chaz Davies scored no points and is now listed as sixth for the season. West’s teammate Michael Barnes fell on lap one, remounted in last, and fought his way past 12 riders to finish an incredible 13th. Earlier in the day Rapp bested and blasted all competitors, laying down the fastest lap of day in Supersport, riding his Attack Kawasaki ZX-6R to the top of the times. The next Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa rider was M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Cory West with the fifth-best time of the day, followed in seventh by Rapp’s teammate Chaz Davies. Supersport qualifying takes place Saturday morning. In Superstock qualifying for Saturday’s 60K, nine-lap race, Blake Young led all Pirelli riders by earning a front row start with fourth-place on the grid on his M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R1000. Qualifying on row two was Roadracingworld.com’s Robertino Pietri, with the sixth-best time. Right next him on row two is the consistently confident David Anthony. Leading the times of row three is Pietri’s teammate Chris Ulrich, with Ryan Elleby rounding out the top ten and securing a starting position also on the third row. More, from a press release issued by M4 EMGO Suzuki: WEST SIXTH IN UTAH FORMULA XTREME FOR M4 EMGO SUZUKI Team M4 EMGO Suzuki enjoyed a successful Friday at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, UT, securing a front-row qualifying position and scoring a sixth-place race finish during the second of four days racing alongside the Superbike World Championship. Cory West backed up his impressive fourth-place Formula Xtreme debut for the team at Infineon Raceway riding in place of the injured Martin Cardenas with a sixth-place run aboard his Pirelli-shod GSX-R600 on Friday at MMP. West battled much of the race around the 4.5-mile long circuit with Larry Pegram and Aaron Gobert before ultimately accepting sixth at the checkered flag. “We had a good battle out there with Pegram and Gobert,” said West. “I was trying to stick with Larry until the end and make a pass but then Gobert came by and he was able to get around me. It was a blast to race with those guys and it would have been nice to be able to finish fourth. I’m having a good time filling in on this bike while Martin is out and the bike is really fast. I feel like I’m learning with the extra laps and want to thank the team for giving me the opportunity.” Michael Barnes joined West in the FX class this weekend, but unfortunately he suffered a crash at the end of the opening lap. The Floridian didn’t give up, however, and despite dropping all the way to 25th and last place, Barnes remounted and clawed his way all the way back up to 13th by the conclusion of the 9-lap contest. Blake Young overcame a track time disadvantage in the Superstock class to qualify on the front row for Saturday’s race. Young guided his GSX-R1000 around the track with a time of 2:49.261, good enough for fourth best in the session. “Qualifying went okay,” Young said. “Starting off, this weekend hadn’t been so good for us as far as getting track time. We just had to work with the time we were given and yesterday morning’s practice wasn’t so great. This was actually the first time we’ve got some pretty decent track time. The Pirelli guys have new stuff for us to try this weekend so we’ve been going through everything trying to find a good race bike and at the end of this I think we’ve got something pretty good.” Young was the fastest of the three Team M4 EMGO Suzuki riders in the Supersport practice, clocking the fifth fastest time at 2:54.252. West was 12th at 2:55.588 and Barnes was 13th at 2:55.747. On Saturday Team M4 EMGO Suzuki will qualify for Sunday’s Supersport final before Young takes on the 60k Superstock final.
