Beverly Rentzell, mother of former racer “Revvin’ Kevin” Rentzell, died July 6 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after a seven-year battle with lymphoma, or cancer of the lymph nodes. She was 68 years old. Mrs. Rentzell spent several years serving as the official scorer for her son’s endurance team and counted the time she spent at WERA National Endurance Series and National Challenge Series events as some of the best times of her life, according to her son. More, from Kevin Rentzell: In Loving Memory Beverly Ashley Rentzell, 68, of Red Bank, passed away Sunday, July 6th 2008 at 7:25 pm at Erlanger Medical Center after a valiant 7-year fight with Lymphoma cancer. She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, TN and attended St. Thaddaeus Episcopal Church where she was a member of the choir and of the Flower Guild. She was preceded in death by her son Bob Rentzell and her parents Buford and Betty Ashley. She leaves behind her husband of 47 years Robert L. Rentzell of Chattanooga. Her sons Lindsey Rentzell also of Chattanooga, “Revin” Kevin (Tammy Keese) Rentzell of Estill Springs, his daughters Amanda Masako Rentzell, age 9, of Gig Harbor Washington and Victoria Ashley Keese-Rentzell age 5 of Estill Springs. She also had a brother Buford (Brenda) T. Ashley, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN. Two sisters Kathy (Randy) Lewis of Acworth, GA, and Martha (Duane) Brown of Chattanooga, TN. Beverly was a member of the Sweet Adelines International Scenic City Chorus for many years. She was also a member of the Sports Car Club of America. She was an artist as well as an art teacher painting masters and landscapes. She worked with her sons during their racing careers across the country and abroad. She was known as “MOM” to all in motorcycle road racing. She told her son, “Revin” Kevin, the day before she passed away, “You know some of the best years in my life were traveling around the country with those boys and all their friends at the races. You let them know I will be watching them. Please tell everybody to make donations to the Roadracing World Action Fund for all my racer boys in leather, OK?” There will be visitation on Saturday July 12, 2008 at St. Thaddaeus Church, 4300 Locksley Lane, Chattanooga, TN on Hwy 153 and Hwy 58 N from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The blessing prayer will begin at 6:00 pm. The celebration of Bev’s life will follow. The service will be Sunday, July 12, 2008 at 10:00 am. Come as you are. She loved and was loved by all who ever met her.
