FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: I just heard this sad news–please pass along this info to the racing community. John Marley passed away on Tuesday, December 5th, while hospitalized following surgery. He was 57. As the founder, editor and publisher of Cycle Scene Magazine, Marley was a staunch supporter of motorcycle racing in Florida. His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 9th in Tampa. Paul James Milwaukee, Wisconsin More, from an official obituary: John W. Marley, 57, of Tampa died Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater. He was born in Maryville, Mo and moved to Tampa in 1983 from Fort Lauderdale. He was an Air Force veteran and served as a Tech. Sgt. in Thailand and Laos during the Vietnam Era. He was Protestant. He was publisher of Cycle Scene magazine and was an avid cyclist and enjoyed fishing and photography. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Nook, his son John James of Orlando, his parents John and Mary Marley of Fort Lauderdale, brother David of Port St. Joe, sister Catherine Welky of Fort Lauderdale, and one niece and three nephews.
