Vittorio Iannuzzo and Alex Baldolini will kick off respectively from the eleventh and twelth position on the grid, eventhough both of them weren’ t able to cover a lap without any mistakes or having any issues. A result that place the Italian couple as an outsider within sight of tomorrow, with a race that is going to show a great balance between the riders placed in the first 4 rows. The team’s work at the box is going to be crucial, as they are expected to deliver the riders a bike with the right settings trying to preserve tyres wearing in that is going to be a pretty hot day. Vittorio Iannuzzo Triumph Daytona 675 #31 – “ I managed to improve my yesterday’s time, eventhough at the last turn I forgot to enter a gear losing some tenths. I could have kicked off in a better position tomorrow, but we are in a good condition and the team managed to get me a bike which I have a great feeling with. I’m sure I can stike a good place. Alex Baldolini Triumph Daytona 675 #25 – “Unfortunately, once I got the soft tyre, I tried my best to boost up but I always found a slower rider on my way. On the final I tried to go solo, but the tyres cooled off and I couldn’t be incisive.I’m still confident about tomorrow. I think that if I’m going to be able to kick off among the leaders I’m gonna have my say. We’ve been fast in both days thanks to the amazing team’s work.” More, from a press release issued by PTR Honda: JULES CLUZEL came within 0.012seconds of securing pole position at the sixth round of the World Supersport Championship in Italy, eventually being pipped by his PTR stable mate Sam Lowes on his Bogdanka Honda – with these two the only riders posting lap times under 1m 39secs. Between them they have taken the last five pole positions in the series. Ronan Quarmby improved one place to seventh on the grid and slashed his lap times dramatically as he continues his rich run of good form. Martin Jessopp improved his lap times but dropped to 27th on the grid as he continues to ride through the pain barrier with a broken collarbone. The race takes place tomorrow, Sunday, June 10th at 1330 CET. Jules: “It was very close with Sam for pole position which is positive. It is good because the pace we have for the race is competitive I think. In the last session I tried to improve my lap times but I hit a lot of traffic so it was difficult. My target is to score a lot of points and get on the podium but the race could be very difficult as it will be long and it is extremely hot. Tyre choice will be critical as it is easy to lose the front here in the temperature. I will do my best.” Ronan: “It is my first time on the second row and it feels good. It’s weird for me as last year I only did a 1m43secs in qualifying. I was kind of shocked to do a mid 1m 39secs this year but it shows how good my PTR Honda is and how well I am getting on with my crew. I am really happy and think I’ll have a great race tomorrow. I want to get away and hang on to the coat tails of the riders in front and get the best result possible.” Martin: “I am feeling very sore. I did a few more laps and was trying to grin and bear it, doing the odd fast lap. I went as quick as I could but I am already riding beyond the pain barrier. To be honest, yesterday I wasn’t sure I could ride at all so just to be racing is good. I am not sure on tyres for the race but now I want a good night’s rest and to bring the bike home tomorrow. He is a strong guy and will do his best and then get healed for the following round.” More, from a press release issued by Kawasaki: Sofuoglu And Morais Ready For Misano Race WSS, Misano Adriatico, Republic of San Marino, 9 June 2012 Kenan Sofuoglu took his Kawasaki DeltaFin Lorenzini Ninja ZX-6R to third in qualifying at Misano, with his team-mate Sheridan Morais eventually making it to the second row for Sunday’s WSS race. Sofuoglu rode assuredly throughout the qualifying sessions, concentrating on setup not absolute pace and was set to improve best lap time in the final session but just ran out of time when running on the softest rear tyre. The Turkish star has qualified on the front row for every one of the races in the 2012 season and on Sunday he will be out to score his second race win to extend his current championship lead of five points. The early practice sessions were not kind to Morais as he tried to get on terms with the Misano circuit once more as some niggling technical issues held him back for a time. It took until this afternoon before he could show more pace and qualify eighth from 33 riders and go to the end of the second row for Sunday’s race. Fabien Foret (Kawasaki Intermoto Step Racing) qualified sixth at Misano, only 0.581 seconds from Sofuoglu. In the Superstock 600 race, Christian Gamarino (Team GO Eleven) was third. Kenan Sofuoglu: “As always I really wanted to take a start on the front row so now I am really ready for the race. The lap times I am doing are not difficult and I am doing the same times with the hard or soft tyres, which is good for me and for tomorrow I think we have a big chance of winning. I never won a race at San Marino so I really want to win this time. In the last second I could put on an SC0 tyre which I used for just one lap but I understood it right away. I just needed three or four more laps to try for pole but personally I really do not care about taking pole. I can see that we are really strong and ready for the race.” Sheridan Morais: “A lot better today than yesterday morning when we had a small electrical problem, also in Friday qualifying. As much as I was disappointed to lose the chance to set fast early lap times I could see how much work the guys were doing so I knew it would work out. They got the bike ready for today and although it has been pretty rough at times this weekend I am really pleased to be on the second row. The pace has been pretty hot and I think I only got in a few laps before qualifying. We got some decent laps during qualifying and we also did quite a few fast laps, so I think we should be OK for the race, and I have a good squad of guys on my side.”
