Portuguese Parkalgar Honda racer Miguel Praia ended the day 12th. The race takes place at 1330 on Sunday, 25th April at the historic Assen circuit in North Holland. Follow the action over the weekend on www.parkalgarhonda.com. Eugene: “I ended up on the front row which is what I wanted as it could always rain here tomorrow. I put a lot of laps on a tyre and worked on my race settings and we have got some rear grip and will continue to improve things. The Parkalgar Honda chassis is working well and I have a lot of confidence in the front end and can push hard. There is more to come from me on this bike. I also really like the new section, it is ballsy and you need to be committed.” Miguel: “We worked on finding race settings on my Parkalgar Honda. I am struggling through the fast direction changes, especially in the last sector and I need to use the handlebars to change direction faster. I can go fast for one lap and want to fight for the second and third rows tomorrow. I am still sore from my crash at Valencia but it will not hold me back this weekend.” Simon Buckmaster, Parkalgar Honda Team Manager: “I am happy that Eugene is on the front row and looking at his lap times he is strong over race distance. Sofuoglu is the danger rider here at Ten Kate’s home track and is riding well he’s a good target for us to aim for tomorrow. Miguel has more work to do on changing direction through the fast sections and we will be working with him to help him.” More, from a press release issued by ParkinGO Triumph BE1 Racing: Team ParkinGO Triumph BE1 Racing finished day 1 with three riders on provisional second row in the fourth round of World Supersport. David Salom set the fifth fastest time, he was followed by his teammate Lagrive, who made a lot of progress in understanding the machine in the fast corners of the Dutch track . Chaz Davies finished ninth, although he has raced at Assen only in 250 GP, when the track was much different. Jason Di Salvo made his debut on one of the hardest tracks in motorcycling. DAVID SALOM | Triumph Daytona 675 | 5th in 1’39.143 : “We mainly worked on race setup. I’m confident for tomorrow because I keep setting my fastest time over and over. I’ll be very happy if i qualify in the front row. However, if I don’t, that won’t be an issue because from row two I can understand what moves I have to make”. MATTHIEU LAGRIVE | Triumph Daytona 675 | 6th in 1’39.405 : “I’m satisfied with the result. I still have some diffiiculties in the slower corners, but other than that I’m starting to enjoy riding this bike. I’ll try to improve my time tomorrow and hopefully get in the first two rows”. CHAZ DAVIES | Triumph Daytona 675 | 9th in 1’39.822 : “We did a good job in setting some very good times despite not knowing the track. I can still improve session after session, the important thing is to be on top form for the race”. JASON DI SALVO | Triumph Daytona 675 | 14th in 1’41.279 : “I’ve never raced here. I still have to improve my feeling with the bike, especially in the fast corners, but I like the track. Today I worked on my trajectories but tomorrow I’ll go for the speed”. More, from a press release issued by Hannspree Ten Kate Honda: Kenan Sofuoglu and Michele Pirro posted an emphatic one-two result in today’s opening qualifying session for Sunday’s fourth round World Supersport championship race at Assen in Holland. With their Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team based just 60km to the south, Assen represents a ‘home’ race for Sofuoglu and Pirro and a test at the revised 4.542km circuit last week underlined the pair’s early advantage. Sofuoglu, who also headed this morning’s free practice session, set a blistering pace of 1’38.250s this afternoon, with Pirro just three tenths of a second off the Turk’s time, despite crashing early in the qualifying session. Kenan Sofuoglu P1 1’38.250s I am very confident for the rest of the weekend and, after the good test we had here last week, the bike feels great and I am very comfortable riding it fast. I couldn’t put a really quick lap together this afternoon so I can’t guarantee pole position tomorrow because I’m just not very good at doing one fast lap. I will try a longer run tomorrow morning, but for me, it’s all about Sunday anyway as long as I can get a front row start tomorrow, I am ready and looking forward to the race. Michele Pirro P2 1’38.567s I have already gone half a second quicker than in the test last week, so I am happy with that. I am not so happy about the crash in the hairpin going on to the back straight early in the session this afternoon. I have cut the index finger on my left hand a little bit but it’s not so bad and I will try with my team to make more improvements tomorrow. Ronald ten Kate team manager Well, it’s the perfect start to our home race weekend. Our test here last week gave us a little advantage early on, but I t hink that it’s levelled out now. It’s a pity about Michele’s crash which limited his progression this afternoon. His finger is a bit bruised and painful but he’ll be fit enough to ride tomorrow. Kenan is riding well and we’ll work hard to keep him in the same position tomorrow.
