Reigning AMA Superbike Champion Spies was fastest in yesterday’s qualifying ahead of the six-time champion but was trailing the Australian until the final lap when he put in a time of 1:49.405. Championship leader Spies also gained a point for pole position, which brings his pre-race total to 308 points – three more than Mladin. Third Yoshimura team rider Tommy Hayden will start from eighth position in both of this weekend’s races and Michael Jordan Motorsports rider Jake Holden ninth. Combined Superbike Qualifying: 1.
