WERA Motorcycle Roadracing Kicks Off Two Weekends of Motorcycle Action at Miller Motorsports Park Local rider, Dylon Husband, to compete in World Supersport Championship! TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (May 19, 2009) “” It’s the best time of year for motorcycle racing enthusiasts in Utah and the Intermountain West as Miller Motorsports Park is hosting two events in the next two weeks””one for amateurs and the other featuring the world’s most-accomplished professional riders. This weekend, May 22-23, Western-Eastern Racing Association (WERA) Motorcycle Roadracing arrives for two days of sprint and endurance racing. WERA is the biggest amateur motorcycle racing series in America. Round 3 of the Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance Series, the Michelin/WERA National Challenge, and the Pirelli/WERA West Sportsman Series presented by Lucas Oil are scheduled as is Round 2 of Miller Motorsports Park’s local motorcycle road racing championship, the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains Series. Practice sessions on Saturday morning lead up to a six-hour Bridgestone/WERA National Endurance Series race which will take the green flag at 11:30 a.m. On Sunday, morning practice for all groups will precede the Michelin/WERA National Challenge Series and Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains races, which start at noon. There will be a total of 16 races on the 3.048-mile Outer Course. Tickets for this weekend are only $6 per person on Saturday and Sunday. Kids 12 and under are free. Admission on Friday is free for everyone. Next weekend, May 29-31, brings the biggest event of the year to MMP, the Lucas Oil Utah USA Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship presented by HANNspree. This year’s World Superbike event will be the biggest and best yet with a downtown party at Salt Lake City’s Gateway Mall on Friday night, a classic rock concert featuring Styx, Foreigner and Kansas on Saturday night, and a myriad of exhibits, displays and demonstrations for fans throughout the weekend. The on-track action commences on Saturday with practice sessions, followed by qualifying sessions on Sunday and the feature races on Memorial Day, Monday. Joining World Superbike will be the World Supersport Championship. This series features the best 600cc riders in the world, and the race at MMP will include a number of “one-event” riders looking to get noticed by the World Championship teams and fans. One of those will be local rider Dylon Husband, who lives in Salt Lake City and normally competes in the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains series as well as in WERA and the semi-pro Championship Cup Series. Filling out the schedule for the weekend will be the second annual Lucas Oil Superbike Challenge, a semi-pro event comprised of two classes organized by the Utah SportBike Association, which also sanctions the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains Series.
