More, from a press release issued by American Suzuki: Jordan Suzuki’s Aaron Yates Wins AMA Superstock Race at Mid-Ohio M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Blake Young brings home second Round 7 AMA Superstock Series Lexington, Ohio Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course August 1 – 3, 2008 Michael Jordan Motor Sports Suzuki’s Aaron Yates won his third AMA Superstock race of the season on Sunday afternoon at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Two-time AMA Superstock Champion Yates started from pole position on his Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 and got the holeshot. The Georgian then led most of the race’s 16 laps before taking the victory. The one lap that Yates did not lead saw Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Blake Young out front. Although Young put in a strong ride on his M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R1000 and challenged Yates for the victory, he eventually finished up in a respectable second place to take his fourth AMA Superstock podium of the season. Currently, Yates leads the overall championship points chase, while Young is in fourth place. Aaron Yates: “The race was about perfect. I got an awesome start on the Jordan Suzuki GSX-R1000 and tried to get up there and put in some good, clean laps. It’s not really my style to lead a race right from the beginning, but these other guys have been running strong so I knew I needed to take advantage of any clear track I had. At some point Blake got by me but I could tell he was a little slower than me in a couple places so I was able to get back around him. Then I knew I just needed to hold him off for a bit and that’s what I did to bring home the win for Jordan Suzuki.” Blake Young: “The race was pretty good for me. We had decent qualifying and I was on the front row on the M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R1000. I got a good start, and was second going into Turn One. The other guys were going good and I didn’t know how long I could run up there with them or even if I could run up there with them. There were a couple of times where I got comfortable on the bike and tried to put on some charges. Overall, I was happy with the Suzuki and with my tires and I have to thank my guys for working so hard for me this weekend.”
